Pryo Gauge going crazy!

My pryo gauge is acting up. its an Auto meter ultra lite and sometimes it just has its own mind. i'll be crusin down the road and it will go from 500 to 1100 to 1300 then peg out straight down. then at the blink of an eye is goes right back to 500. sometimes if you tap the gauge it will stop acting up and go back to the temp it was running at. what could cause this.

Have you checked your connections? I had the same problem when I had ultra-lites, and it turned out to be loose connections. (Imagine that, me having wiring problems!) If it's not the wiring, call Autometer and tell them the gauge is messed up.

make sure its grounded by itself don't ground it with with any other wires the pyro does not need tobe grounded with the gauge wiring.

Check everything that these guys said to check, if everything checks out OK. Call AutoMeter, lately I have heard about a few different cases of this problem you have...

Yeah, I have the same gauge and mine has done that a couple times. I noticed when it's cold. I was gonna send it in but not time.. I'd say the gauge is messed up.

It does it no matter what time of day or if lights are on or off. I will check out my connections and make sure its grounded properly and all that good simple stuff. thanks for the advice
