Pros and Cons to advancing the timing

Can someone tell me the pros and cons of advancing the timing from a stock setting? I'm having a 3gsk installed this Friday and I was wondering if I should do it. I've read that most do 15.5* to 16*. It's a 97 auto.
Thanks,

There is a good write up on DTR of the advantage of bumping up the timing..If you do a search you should find it...

Trust me...That bump to 15.5 degrees will really make that truck run way better...
