They will all kill it with time. Get an aftermarket lift pump. Do a search on here and decide whats best for you. there are numerous options...but that should be your number one concern

Unfortunately, a VP44 starts dieing the minute it's first started so in reality it makes no matter what you run for a programmer.
The VP has a mind of it's own and will die when it feels like it. All you can do is whatever it takes to prolong it's life by using good fuel, keeping filters changed, keep your fuel pressure up, etc, etc, etc.
My first one died at 20,000 miles, my second one is still going with over 200,000 miles on it. It's a hit and miss thing unfortunately but the rebuild market has made some decent inroads into reliability on the VP.
The best advise and I'm sure lot's on here will agree is just run it and let it die when it does.

yeah its not just the edge that kills the pumps but its the way all the programmers add the power the problem is in the vp44 the programmers push it beyond what it was designed to do and thats why they die. I think that a replacement pump with the updated computer can handle the programmers better then the original pumps could so you are better off since you just replaced the pump but in time i think it will fail. In my opinion the vp44 is one of the best pump for making lots of power but a poor design for longevity, thats why they were only in the trucks for a short time.

The edge is a good box and makes good power. The problem is the VP44. Best thing to do is keep it supplied with good clean fuel with a FASS. Mine ran between 12 and 18 psi. not sure what is normal but always ran great in my truck.
