Pressure checked engine for boost leak’s
I pressured test my engine for leaks buy using some plumbing materials and when I applied air it just bled out, didnt even move the needel on the gauge so I sprayed some soapy water and pressured it again and found that the clamp between the turbo and the pipe leading to the inter cooler was not install right. After I fixed the leak and the three other I found at the hoses the air still bled off slowly. I applied 5PSI at every test is it suppose to bleed off or is it suppose to hold ? Also how much PSI is safe if I add more I mite find more leaks ?
Please help.

well your turbo makes how many PSI of boost??? take the intake manifold pipe off and seal that off (duct tape ect, then place tubing back in place w/clamps) do the same thing on the turbo end too......... what you will do is now pressurize the boost system only, then you can check all of your boost couplers, tubing and intercooler for leaks. i would safely say 20 psi should hold for atleast a minute, but i may be wrong...... a small amount of bleed down i wouldnt worry about too much, but any noticeable drop in pressure i would keep attacking everything with a soapy water spray to find it.
just remember to take the duct tape or whatever off the intake + turbo once your done your testing.......

I've never had to seal off the intake, just bump the engine to realign the valves. A small amount of air will always get by though the engine but you can greatly minimize it with just a short turn of the key.
