Question Power Take Offs

I own a dodge ram 2500 P.U. with an NV5600 6-spd tranny. I want to install a PTO on the passenger side of the tranny. It is to drive a hydrualic pump for a dump bed hoist. I would appreciate any information that anybody has on installing PTO's and pumps that would fit this tranny. If no info maybe somebody that i can contact would also be appreciated. Thank you for your time and information. Diesels Rock.

You really do not install a PTO, you might install the pump. The PTO is something that is or is not already on the trany. It is easy enough to tell, a large cover plate held on by 5-6 bolts. If you need a pump, most large hydraulic companies have them.

A lot of the units are shaft driven. In that case a single speed and direction PTO would suffice. The gear is usually fairly standard. You need to check and see if the speeds are different between the two sides. They usually have a different speed. I have one here that used to drive a water pump on an International, tried it on the NV4500, bolted right up. I was just curious and the trans was out.
