Power BRaking

With the mods I currenty have, I can not power brake my truck unless the ground is wet. Is there a sensor or something else that would prevent this? The truck pulls forward like it wants to, but it just doesn't. The more fuel you give it the engine bogs down when the brake petal is to the floor. Any info would help. THanks

Re:Power BRaking

Stock tranny?

Get boost higher maybe. Even if you have to let the truck roll a little with light braking to get boost and engine rpm up. Once rear tires start spinning, friction is greatly reduced and the pickup will likely stop moving forward. All told might be around 4' or 5' of travel. Once spinning you will also be able to back off on the brake pressure!

Re:Power BRaking

If yours is a later 01 model, you have rear disc brakes and they will hold way better than the drum brake rears.
So it might be harder to powerbrake.

Re:Power BRaking

Put a line lock in if you really want to do a show, and do less damage to brakes, convertor, and trans,

Re:Power BRaking

Mine can't powerbrake. Even with the comp on. My dad's bone stock 6.5L turbo diesel Chevy with 33's and 4.10's and auto can do it no prob. Maybe the 3.54 gears are the problem. To high a gear.

Re:Power BRaking

Mine will do it but not until the boost gets up there. Of course, I've only done it twice on dry pavement because it's killing the trans but it sure looks cool when 4 wheels are spinning.. ;D

Re:Power BRaking

You shouldnt have a problem with power braking, You have to first give enough brake to get the boost up and make the tires want to brake loose. Then ease off the brakes.... I can do it with my 2002 5-speed. All it has is a EZ.... I actually just did one the other day with a Powerstroke 6 speed and a trailer on... Check out the picture

Re:Power BRaking

My 2001.5 w/auto, 4x4, and 3.55's did it here at 5000' altitude no problem, bone stock. I don't have posi though. When it gets boost, I think it would fry them just as easy if I had posi. I put an EZ on and it'll light 'em (it) up with a little puff of diesel smoke to go with it. 8)
