Possible new truck - opinions on trans?

I'm curious what a stock-rebuilt auto trans will hold. I'm considering buying a 4x2 2500 second gen reg cab longbed. Saw it on the way to work this morning out by the road with a 'for sale' sign. I stopped and looked briefly at the info sheet on the window, and it said that it's got 200k miles, stock engine, and received new balljoints, brakes, and rebuilt trans in Dec 2005. I forgot to see what year it was since I was in a hurry, so I'm not sure if it was a 47rh or 47re.
Anyway, the question is: with a stock rebuild on the trans, how much power can I expect it to hold if I just use the truck as a commuter (no towing)? Since it is freshly rebuilt, how much more could it hold if I slapped a performance TC and VB in it?
Thanks.
Chris

I don't think you'd have a problem holding 400RWHP with a performance TC & Valve Body.

i am right at 500 with good converter and stock valve body. but mine is a 2wd and i don't tow with it. now it may go to pieces when i chuck on a set of slicks. but normal driving it just spins the tires below 50, which is the main reason it is still alive.

Thanks for the input, guys. Gunracer, how long ago was your trans rebuilt? Did you drop a shift kit in it too, or is it all stock besides the TC?

Bobcat, is your TC a single or triple? If I did get this truck, I'd probably do Dave's single-disc TC and either a VB from Dave or a shift kit for the stocker...

i am not sure how long ago it was rebuilt. but when we dropped the pan it was like brandnew inside. and the truck has 240k on it. i don't even have a shift kit in it, it needs it. i will put a transgo in it when i get a chance.
