Posi-Lock Owners? (help)

I'm in the process of installing mine and the directions are very vague when it comes to routing the cable after it goes through the fire wall. I've got it coming along the frame rail to the front side of the front spring perch and then down and around the wheel well side of the frame rail and down to the axle. It's rubbing against the track bar though and I don't trust the zip ties they provided with the kit to keep it in place. If anyone has pics of where they routed it I'd love to see them. I've posted a few of how I have it right now just to give you an idea of where I'm at. If I route it on the inside of the frame rail then the line is WAY too long and besides, the directions from Posi-Lock say to run it up the frame rail and into the wheel well. I know a few people here have done this so I'd really, really appreciate some advice.

Thanks!

John

do what works

I fully understand the gratification of a clean install. But my suggesition would be to try a couple different scenarios and go with the best one.

I did mine about a month ago, I know what you mean, it seems it's either too long or too short depending on the way it's routed. Mine looks about like yours and it did feel a little too long. I remember routing a few different ways and decided that the differences were really pretty insignificant. I mean, you're talking about a glorified bicycle cable, you can route it any way you want as long as there are no kinks and it doesn't rub on the frame to much.

good luck

above case

looking at your pics again I think I took up some slack by going above the t-case.

I got it in and while I'm not thrilled with the way I ended up routing it, I managed to keep it off the track bar, off the steering shaft, and on the inside of the frame rail so it can't be seen through the wheel well. Unfortunately I'm a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to stuff like that but in this case I had to settle for "good enough". Also, I've got to say that the directions for this kit are among the poorest I've had to work with in a long time. There are several parts that there is no description of their use in the directions. To top it off, the hole in the case that bolts to the axle wasn't big enough for the cable end to slide smoothly. It would bind up after about 1/4" of movement so I had to get the drill out and enlarge the hole slightly. I've got to get the fuel tank back in (replaced rotted brake line) and then I can try the 4WD out.

I ran mine BEHIND the front diff- about 10k miles and working good. I guess I had better check it again; I haven't worried about 4x4 problems for a long time!!

It gets a little tight under the oil pan, but I guess that's why they gave you the foil insulation?. and the directions were WRONG on which way the shift fork went in; follow the directions and you only get about 1/4 thread into the aluminum housing; turn it around and life is good.

Going from memory, I ran mine in the engine compartment looped around near the injection pump and then down toward the axle. Zip tied along the way. My **** is to the right of the skinny pedal attached to the bottom of the dash near the T-case lever.
