Picking a new tranny.

My transmission is getting tired and old and I need a new one. My problem is I have no clue how built of a transmission I need to get or if i even need a built one. I don't drag race, don't sled pull, and don't pull anything over a 25ft gooseneck or a stock trailer. I do drive mainly city and I plan on keeping my truck a long time. My mods are listed in my signature and I have no plans on more upgrades, at most a new turbo or a different tuner. Any help on this would be appreciated. opinions facts stories I just need advice. I am in the Oklahoma city area if that makes a difference. Thanks

Check out Goerends transmissions.
http://www.goerend.com/
Hands down one of the best out there and better customer service.

Top DTT tranny rebuilder is just south of Ft Worth. He also builds for Georend... and does excellent work.
I would go with one of those two. Check both web sites and speak with them or this tranny guy. See which matches your needs.
I'll pm you his name and #.

I would avoid local shops that say they can build a stronger tranny but haven't done it. Many have tried this route and most have been disappointed.

Good Luck!

HTS (my choice because of price), DTT or Goerends. I wouldn't touch anything else.

very happy with my HTS, Dusty is the man not only does he build them but he uses them in his own trucks as well, don't think your going too find that else where. I use my truck to haul a trailer every day and has never missed a beat give him a call you wont be sorry.

Im a big DTT fan. Mine was customized to do exactly what I needed ( tow 5-15 k lbs weekly and occasional 1/4 mile run) and will handle more if I want more power in the future.. Which I do!

As for what you need in your trans, If your just runnin the J/A power mod wise, A billet input at the least. Maybe billet intermediate shaft or flex plate but you'd prob be just fine with the billet input shaft. A single disk torque converter will do the job just fine. Deep trans pan. As for Valve body, I dont know those very well but who ever you decide to go with, tell them what you use the truck for and they'll be able to tell ya the best option.

Hope this helps.

I have DTT and it's working good, although if I did it again it would be Goerend.

Goerend or HTT hands down.

Goerend is my first choice because of his lifetime warranty on his converter.
Call Dave and talk with him. I would think their standard duty trans would be sufficient.

Same is true on my DTT single disk!
I meant to include HTS in above comments. I've heard excellent reports about them also!

I have an HTS trans in my DD and its been awesome. Shifts firm and holds anything I can throw at it, and runs cool. Dusty has been awesome to deal with. I have his VB and a Suncoast single disk in our work truck, it tows a s250 bobcat daily and the trans has yet to miss a beat.

Any of the the above will be a good choice! I recommend just giving those builders a call and see who you like talking to more, customer service, etc. I absolutely love my Goerend though!

DTT for me as well.

Towing heavy I would upgrade the flexplate and add a billet input shaft at a minimum.

Personally, DTT is way overpriced. JMO
