Phoenix Trans on Ebay

I want to here from someone who has one in there truck or has had one in a truck in the past.

I am not interested in all the other bashing and crap I read when I did a search on these. I already know there is more than one Phoenix transmission company. I am only specifically interested in the ones on ebay here...

I know it may be a lesser trans than some others, but I like the available warranty options and how close they are to me. I don't want to get a trans from half way across the country...I don't care how good people say it is.

Anyway, this trans would be used for a 350/750 built motor, pulling a 17k gross 5 times a year. Also for some "spirited" street driving when unloaded. Total yearly mikleage is around 10k...so the mileage on the warranty means very little compared to the years avaialable.

So, in my searching there were a couple guys who seemed to be happy with them...anyone else have a good or bad experience?

When i was shopping for a truck i ran into a guy that had purchased a phx retrans when they opened the new scottsdale location and were offering 99.00 installs on them, out the door w/ a billet input he was into it about 2k. He showed up to a dyno pull we had about 4 - 5 months ago ... he had already pulled it and had it rebuilt w/ DTT parts. He said it let go of the 2nd gear band at ~ 25k or something to that effect.

I looked VERY seriously at these tranny's ... and ended up with a local DTT builder who ended up being very little more, with a better warranty, better service, and a much better tranny.

I think what it comes down to, is how long are you going to keep the truck? and what's the piece of mind that you won't be stuck on the side of the road with a tranny problem (or overheated tranny) worth? To me it was worth allot.

Just my .02.

I can't say for sure on the Pheonix trans, but I had mine built by a local builder and the cost was 3200. Be careful these trucks will shred weak items.
