Edge EZ
Edge Comp
soon Edge Juice
soon TS Performance MP-8
van Aaken power module

Thats a start!

It will depend on what level of performance he is looking to get, and what he use's the truck for the most as which direction to go.

Welcome to DTR!

If I could only add one power enhancer... It would be the Smarty. Only adds 60 hp but the drivability improvement is so much more!

Starting with gauges is best way to go so you have base line readings from which to measure all future changes.

Just installed a van Aaken V-5 and love it. Nice power boost for general driving and towing. Wakes it right up and not expensive to purchase. $400 thru Ebay.

TST is a great fueling box, stacked with a Smarty or Edge EZ he can build some nice power.

just remember that it won't take more than ~50hp to hit the limit of the auto trans. A bit more for the manuals, but they have a fairly low limit as well.

Diesel Rook:

Welcome to the website!

The other DTR Members have given you some good advice! To add to what has already been said, I have a TST PM 3 (Competition) on my 2002 Dodge CTD and love the thing! IMO,....Mark Chapple @ TST builds one of the best performing fueling boxes for our trucks in the industry! But as some of the other members have said, the "Blue Chip" and Edge Boxes are good too.

I agree 100% with what DTR Member "Beast2B" told you about the auto transmission on the Dodge CTD trucks though. They are pretty weak stock and IMO need to be "beefed up" BEFORE adding any fueling boxes! The manual transmissions aren't much better. Also, before adding any fueling boxes tell your friend to be sure and install a set of good quality gauges with AT LEAST fuel pressure, boost and pyrometer (EGT) unless he buys a fueling module that already has that included with their unit.

Good luck!

Do you mean the clutches? The NV 4500 seems to be a very good tranny for power.........

I am talking about the clutch. The NV4500 is stout, but the 5th gear nut can be an issue (I've read about it, not experienced it).

Yes, let me clarify my statement,.....I also meant the clutches in both the NV4500 (5-speeds) and the NV 5600 (6-speeds). They will take the abuse from say a TST PM 3 on levels 5-9 for awhile, but eventually they will give out.

Sorry about that..............................

I'd say start with an Intake system, 4 or 5" exhaust and an Edge Comp or a TST box stacked with an Edge EZ. This should be a very good starting point.

Go with Twins and mach 6's and edge drag comp. That should be a good start. GO BIG OR GO HOME.
