Smile Optium Timing?

I've got a #10 plate centered +, 3gsk, custom EDM stock plus injectors, 4" exhaust, and PDR HX35.

The truck runs good after it warms up---but I'm thinking my timing has slipped or isn't where it should be. It doesn't want to start right away even in 50* weather.

SOOOOOOOOOOOO my question is at 6000 ft in elevation what is the optium timing? I was thinking 17.5 to 18*

Any thoughts? Infidel?

More like 16 to play it safe. If your timing has slipped, then 16 will feel a heck of allot better. I would start at 16 and leave it alone for awhile.

If you really want to spend some time with it, then start at 16, and try different settings. It will take time but you could move the settings around to see what gives you best mileage/performance/driveability.

The higher the timing, then the less you will have in bottom end, but the more you will have in top end. Need to find out what works best for you.

It would help to know what you generally are doing with the truck, towing or hot rodding, what year and trans, and even a little bit as to where you live (at elevatior or not).

Just general driving and some snow plowing. Auto Trans with ATS Tc and valve body, shift kit.
I live in Sedalia Colorado, 20 miles south of Denver, 8 miles west of Castle Rock in the foot hills, aprox 6000 ft in elevation.

Given your use of the truck and the fact that you are at elevation I presonally would not go any higher than 16 degrees. Maybe even a little less depending on how much fuel your injectors are pushing.

haisley recomned 18-20 for daily drivers and 22-24 for play trucks

I was also told this by a very wise mechanic that has built several famous pull trucks.

Has anyone reading this advanced their timing this high? Any problems?

With advanced timing you lose bottom end. At elevation you cannot afford to lose bottom end. I do not think I would run my timing that high if I lived at elevation.

Mine is a first gen, may not apply here but it is set at 20. I was running 17 before the twins install. Have not had any issues.

been running 19* for a year...no problems and no real noticeable bottom end loss, but a lot of top end gain and mileage. Sea level though....
