Optima Red Top - Costco

I searched and found several threads sugesting Costco has the best price on the Red Top. The Costco around here only sells the BCI Group 75/35 which is a 720CCA battery.

Looks like the "correct" Red Top is the 34/78 which is a 800CCA.

Are people running the 75/35 to save a few $$$?

Thanks for any info,

Dr. I believe most run the Group 34/78.

Being from California - Id think youd probably be OK since it doesnt get real cold there.

Thats 1440 cranking amps, what would be the problem? The truck will start easily on one.

FWIW Sears will match any price. Here in New England I choose the 34/78's. The winter months here can make for some hard start up's.

The price difference between the size that Costco carries and the size everybody seems to be running is only $20 per battery.

Don't get the Costco ones. They are the wrong ones. Same here in Oregon.

The one Costco has is only like 720cca @ 910cca at 32*____Model-75/25

The ones you want are the 800 cca models and are rated @ 1000cca at 32*. Model 34/78 This battery also has two sets of terminals top and sides.

Anyway, I figure If I'm spending a couple hundred bucks I might as well get the best. The second terminals I use for accessories.

I've ran into the same thing with the power tools Costco sells, the tool will look exactly like one in a catalog or another store but will have a different model number.
Costco is still the best place to shop though.
