One for the pre 01 Dually owners....Tires

I know that in either 00 or 01 they changed the offset on the dually rims.

My questions are:
How many are using 235-85-16 on the earlier trucks?, and is anyone having a clearence problem on the rear (between the tires)?

I want to go up a size from the 216s but don't want to create a problem.
I don't tow often, and then it's usually only a motorcycle trailer. (maybe 300# tongue wt).

I am running 235 85's on my 97. I have had no clearance problems and have towed as heavy as 30k gross.

Go for it!

Joe...have you chained up with the 235s yet? I have stayed with 215s on my '99 cause I am worried about that... ???

Not many people here run chains. Myself included. Chains would probably be tight though.

I'm running 235/85 on my 98. No clearance problems at all even when loaded. Now for the bad news... Unless you can find a set of true dual chains, you are out of luck. Even cables are too tight. I am considering going down to 215's because I do need chains now and then.

Thanks for the replies folks.

;D 235s it is ;D
The only chain I deal with is on my '76 Harley.
The "Geezer-Glide" has a belt.

If the weather gets that bad the Landcruiser comes out of the garage. ;D

I am on my second set of 235/85 16 tires and have not had any tire rubbing even when towing heavy....I do keep my tires at Max inflation pressure even when not towing....the tires did rub once but my trailer was loaded very badly and put almost all the weight on my rear truck axle even then the rubbing was minor

I do use cable chains on my rear tires....not for snow but more offen I get stuck in mud and need extra traction

I always use chains on my motorcycles even my 2002 custom big bore Evo ;D ;D ;D ;D
