Oil Filter, I want the best one.
Oil Filter, I want the best one.
Since I added my edge Juice, my oil gets dark after just 2K miles. Now that I've added the Jammer 5's, my oil is dirty after 500 miles. Which filter do you all recommend to help clean up the soot in my oil. I've heard about those fancy bypass filters but can't seem to find a price on any. I would prefer to just run a higher quality filter in the stock location. So what's the best... as in filters out to the smallest micron etc. So far fram, prolite, and mobile have netted the same results as far as how quickly it gets dirty. I haven't ran a Napa Gold since I started bombing, but it seemed like a good filter back then.
most run fleetguard (i think, at least dad and i do
)
Your oil will turn black reguardless of the filter. When running that much fuel through a truck the soot will turn it black.
back when mine was hopped up when i changed it and started it up to get it through the filter to check it, it was already black.

Fleetguard LF3894. If your oil is turning black, it'll be black no matter which oil filter you use. Soot is very small (1 micron or less range). The filter I just suggested would get 20-30 microns at best. Amsoil bypass gets down to 2 micron. Frantz a little lower.
My opinion is FRAM is the worst filter you could put on any veh, just because they are the most advertized does not mean its any good.
just for fun googgle "oil study" not everything on the net is true, but after you compare filters for yourself, you wont use a fram again.(just compare the smaller ring of holes of a fram against any other filter and you will see the size difference right away

So even a bypass filter will not much. Then my next question is how far can I go between oil changes? I used to change my oil when it got good and dirty around 6-7K miles. Now It gets black so fast, I'm afraid to go that long.
+1 on the Donaldson Endurance

I work for Donaldson, I use them on my truck I've seen them being built and I personally use them exclusively. They are a great filter and no expense is spared.

Where can I get one of those Donaldson filters to try out. My oil is due.
Where can I get one of those amsoil bypass setups?
I've heard that K&N oil filters are worse than Fram. Total junk, but i have no firsthand experience.
