Oil bypass return line ?

How do those of you with bypass oil filters run your return line through the oil filler cap? I've had mine on for a while, running a swivel fitting going into the cap, but get too much oil leaking out. I have the ratchet style oil cap. When I put the bypass system in, I drilled a hole through the cap, and took the spring out. The nut on the return swivel presses against the legs on the cap, and only allows the nut to be run about half-way up the treads (anymore and the cap won't go back together). I'm also not able to screw the cap all the way back on, so I get alot of blow-by. I haven't been able to find any caps that would fit mine without the ratchet inside, or that would probably be the easiest solution. Any help?

Hmmm, I thought only the 12Vers used the oil fill as a return (since they have the tube which the 24Vers don't). I also thought bypass manufacturers say to always have the drain at a lower level than the bottom of the filter.

I've seen one run this way before, but all I saw was a pic. It works pretty good because if you have any question on the bypass being clogged, you can remove the filler cap and see the oil flowing (although hopefully you'd change a filter before it got that bad). I've never read anything about needing to return lower than the filter. My filter is mounted to a battery bracket, so it's not got a lot of height change, but there is a little.
