not unless you had the bigger input shaft in the 4500, or happened to have an ealry 5600 that used the smaller shaft, but more than likely it's not gonna work, Dusty

good luck. Finding a nv5600 at a good price is hard, finding one with a 1 1/4 will even be harder. not say you can't, just GOOD LUCK

well i can tell you, changing the input on a 5600 requires a total teardown of the tranny. i would suggest you send your clutch to peter and get a bigger center hub and use a later model 5600.

alright, another qeustion also, if i keep my nv4500, what will the 1 1/4" input shaft handle vs. the 1 3/8" input shaft (hp and torque).... because they make a shaft upgrade kit....would i then use the mu 13-1.375 con fe clutch with the new shaft and my nv4500?

from what I understand the upgraded input shaft on a 4500 uses the same clutch as a 5600 with the larger input shaft. So if you upgrade teh shaft on the 4500 you can swap between transmitions. I was told you wont really break 1 1/4" input shaft unless you really try to or have some insane amount of power. As far as switching to a nv5600 you need some parts. a new trans cross member (unless you have a 98 that has an 11" wide cross memeber) a shifter and linkage for the transfer case. Your rear drive shaft has to be shortened and the front one has to be lengthed (good thing since the front shaft is at a bad angle to start with, that angle will be lessoned) I have a dd on order an input shaft for my 4500 but if I can get my hands on a 5600 ill sell the shaft and just upgrade. from what I hear the 5600 upgrade is much nicer to drive. that 3-4th gear gap is terrable on the 5 speed

anyone have a 5600 to sell me? lol

everything he said is true except if your good with tools you can make the older crossmember work by turning it around, and make the linkage for the transfer case.
