you won't hurt anything, what have you done to your afc? if it is not gutted it won't make much of a differance except on the top end. if you have modifed it for more rack travel it will make a big differance.

I heard it is bad for the pump, and can cause serious damage to the pump. What is this rack travel mod?

There is some kind of pin on the rack that can fall out and trash the pump if the plate isn't in there. They say it might or might not happen. Thats all I know about it though.

The $1200 to fix pin usually breaks off when you are are in a high load situation and mash on the pedal. Like passing on a hill. The kind of folks who run plateless also usually do it without gauges. A double no-no.
Better to run a plate, a 100 will perform the same as no plate with no worry of damage.

88bird the no plate seems to really be working for you. NOT. I know of a few guys that do it but I thank I will keep mine especially if you cant get any more power than that . Lots of guys think more smoke=more power , I think with some of them I could put a trash bag around the air filter and make it smoke and they would think they just gained 100HP

yup it's working great.... and the funny thing is there's nothing but a slight haze at WOT and very little smoke unless i flat foot it off the line...... and on the Dyno it accually made more power compaired to a 100 plate.... what are your Dyno numbers in full stock trim (stock turbo & exhaust housing, stock injectors, stock dv's, stock intercooler, stock head, stock headgasket, stock cam, stock timing) all that was not stock was the GSK, 4" exhaust and the K&N intake..... then add into the mix the heavier flexplate (full billet SFI rated), the tripple disc Billett converter, and a dana 80 rear and 2 extra tires and wheels in the rear to turn. that's alot more rotational mass than a stock 2500....

but ya it's working for me and i'm happy and that's all that matters to me....

why not just run a zero plate and have full fuel with no de-fueling and not have to worry about any pump failures

One thing is still a little unclear to me, what is it that actually causes the pin to break? Too much Gov. arm movement correct? If so wouldn't massive amounts of rack travel do the same thing towards this problem as simply running no plate? Or is there another reason why it can break? If the Gov. arm was adjusted to ride against the AFC foot even at full travel than would that make running no plate ok? Sorry if the questions have been asked before but I did find them in the search I did...

Didn't mean not at all, I meant I would have expected a lot more with BHAF, 4" DP to 5" MITER CUT STACKS FROM PUREDIESELPOWER, NO plate, 4kGSPK, Snow Stage 2 Water/Meth kit, Goerend BUILT tranny, ATS SFI flexplate, small NOS kit. Seams to be a tender subject. You probably make more than I do for now, dint have dino #'s yet but I would hope that it would make more than that with all those mods. Try not to get all bent out of shape I was just giving you a hard time. Dino #'s don't lie. I can take some criticism of my truck since I only have $6100 In it mods and all even with 4 new 33x12.50 BFG MT's. Not a power house yet but works for now lots more mods to come. So I will let it go at that. HAVE A NICE DAY and keep up the good work.

just pokin it back at ya'..... and in those pulls no nitrous or meth was used.... the nitrous only netted 2 hp and like 40 ft/lbs more.... it was an .037 jet.... that's like a 45hp shot for a ricer..... i think the only affect it had was acting like a chemical intercooler.... oh ya i ALMOST have as much in my tranny and mods as you have in your truck..... needless to say you got a deal on what you have.....

ya it is quite a true saying aint' it....
