Newest mod- SRT-10 hurst shifter
I cant drive it yet as my truck doesnt have a head on it...but i had to go ahead and install it
This is the install of Tomey Gun's SRT-10 shifter on my 02 NV5600. The fit is great when aligned correctly and it looks really cool in there. The only possible issue some may have with the 2nd gens is that the top of the tranny (shift lever) is a little more vertical than the 3rd gens it seems, so the bend at the end of the hurst shifter doesnt sit vertical but somewhat curved towards the passenger side of the truck. this could have been corrected if i had a torch to heat the custom adaptor that screws onto the shift lever and bent it back a little to make it more vertical.
First use an 8mm socket to remove the rubber shift boot, then use a 3/4" wrench to get the stock shifter handle off.
here is what you will see (note:mine may look different as i have a BD short shift kit installed)

now you must use your judgement here to determine which size shim needs to be installed on the shaft in order to properly align the base adaptor to prevent any clearance issues when shifting. you are gonna want the adaptor somewhere between 11 o'clock and 12 o'clock (parallel to length of truck) see pic for detail.

once getting the proper shim and alignment of the adaptor, remove it and put a few drops of thread locker on it then re-install and make sure its nice and tight using some channel locks or and adjustable wrench.
next install the shifter handle, with the top curve to the passenger side with the shifter handle being lecated of the LEFT side of the adaptor...you can turn it around in the base mounting bracket to be mounted on the right side, but it puts the shifter close to the driver when mounted on the left. i added lock washers to the the 15mm nut and tightened them down.

now you can slip the stock rubber shift boot over the handle and bolt back into place with the 8mm screws. then loosen the nut on top of the shifter about a full turn, screw the shifter ball down on the handle until the shift pattern is aligned to your liking, and use a 1/2" open end wrench to turn the nut upwards until its nice and snug against the bottom the shift ball (like a double nut system) to prevent the ball from loosening or turning, and you are done.

It's too close to you when its bending towards you? Think this is cuz if the short shift kit? I think I'd be in the passenger's lap shifting into reverse the way you've got it
Mini hijack: So what all are you having done to your truck- studs, marine gasket, o-ring,..?

when its bent towards me its at a very wierd angle and isn't comfortable. right now its not bad even when in reverse. it could be a little closer. when i get my torch bottles filled im gonna heat the flat bar on the base and bend the it back a bit, which will put the top "bent" part vertical and bring it about 1-2" closer to me, where the stock shifter was.
and to answer your questions- full valve job, make sure im putting a basically new head on, o-rings, maine gasket, and studs. plus drag comp, turbo timer, and ladder bars are going on it. you'd think i had a bottomless wallet here almost

So what like 30 hp+ for the comp + how much for getting full boost,... ??
Sorry I missed seeing your run cuz I was taking my outer wheels off, but did the smoke clear with the 55 on there? What did you say you hit, 38#'s?
Are you going to block off the wastegate on the b-1?? What kind of boost will it support? Just trying to size up the competition
almost positive ill be over 500 this year. should see about 45-50psi on the dyno with the B1, and it clears the smoke about as good as the 55 did when lit. just leaves a light haze at WOT. dont worry...with the TST you will have more than me again LOL but anytime you wanna go out on the street and line them up ill show you how to make 4 tires hook in the right configuration
on the subject of the hurst shifter for the SRT-10 trucks, does anyone know a part number or which shifter that particular one is, i looked on the hurst site and i didnt see anything that resembled that one. So if anyone knows which shifter it is or which part number the shifter is thatd be awesome!

if you've ever been playing around on the street or racing shifting hard and you feel the shifter "flex" which is due to the rubber isolation bushing in the bottom...this eliminates that. gives it a move solid feel. will it help?? i dunno, wont know til late next weekend when i can drive it again. as for just sitting in the truck and running it thru the gear pattern a few times...it felt awesome, solid, and NO FLEX. oh and the ball is bigger and will not slip out of my hand EVER
no i do not...but i will tell you that getting the part will be hard. i think its only available thru mopar parts...and they only allow so many each month to be sold. the guy who makes the kit i installed spent 8 months collecting as many shifters and ***** as he could so he could have a nice stock pile when orders started coming in.
the kit isnt bad, it comes with the shift, leather wrapped ball, the fabbed adaptor, and everything else needed to install it for $225
