new truck performance direction needed
I just bought a 1999 2500. It already has DDIII injectors in it. I want to get the most power i can get with out losing to much fuel milage. I also want to try to do it as economicly as possible (most bang for the buck so to say). Gauges are first on my list, and i'm open from there. I need this truck to still be able to pull heavy loads. What i need to know is were to start. exhaust, turbo, computer, intake, fuel system. any help would be appreciated.

welcome to dtr. you just opened up a can of worms! what turbo is on your truck currently. i would doubt its stock. power chips are many. somthing with timing would be good due to towing. and it would help keep egt`s down. how many mile are on the truck. manual or auto trans. stock exaust ? just a few questions. also put your location.. nothing to hide here. and you might meet a new local friend who will help you with your truck!

sorry for the lack of info, I'm in lawrence, ks. The truck has 180k on it. The auto trany was recently rebuilt and upgraded (i was told). It has 3" staitpipe exhaust, and i think it has the hx35 turbo on it.

YES, a can of worms is rite. and welcome agian. Your auto trannys not going to like you at all. Your already at what 60-80 hp over stock? A small chip or programmer will be another 60 hp. And at that the stock tranny won't last to long. You can go around 100 hp over stock with out to much troubles. past that you will need a $3500 biult tranny and a $1500 trubo to cool it. So you just need to deside how much HP you want, and how much money you want to put in it.

I was told that the trany had HD clutch and valvebody put in it during the rebuild, but if i kill it i kill it, I'll just get the good one then. This truck is perfect so i am going to be keeping it for a while. I'm just wondering where i should put my money first. I kind of worry about those big injectors and the egts they might be producing. I need some gauges. I though about getting the edge juice with attitude to kill two birds with one stone.

Yes, the attitude is a good up grade. and you can turn it down when towing. If you want to tow with more power you will need a bigger turbo, like a sp62 or sps62. I like mine to tow with. If you get to big then it won't spool (be laggy) and even be worst when hooked to a load. or maybe TWINS that would be the real ticket. I will upgrade before to long

Untill you get more fuel you won't need a bigger turbo, Doug at PDW aka jetpiolt sells alot of different turbos. you can look up his site and check them out and give him a call. REAL nice guy

Take care of your fuel delivery system first and foremost, the injectors and any boxes will pull down your fuel pressure. You don't want to pay for a 1000+ injector pump that you could have saved. Get that fuel pressure gauge on there quick!

I am looking for gauges, what do you guys recomend for a fuel system upgrade? I think i have an intank lifter pump. where would it be if it wasn't in tank? I was looking at the vulcan big line kit, is there something else i should look at? Sorry for all the questions, but i want to do this right the first time.

I also have an intank pump, they are notorious for low fuel pressure. You can either add a pusher pump such as a holley blue, which I did, or bypass the in tank pump altogether. FASS, walbro, and a few other pumps are popular. I may be looking into one of these for total peace of mind, mine has been acting up lately. The attitude monitor you are thinking of can monitor fuel pressure if you get the fuel pressure kit.

Well I too have the intank pump and just ordered a Walbro 392 system from glacier diesel, I have heard nothing but good things about them, that might be a good route to go to get rid of the intank junk.
