New Fuel Isolator
Re:New Fuel Isolator
Mine goes in this weekend courtesy of Mr. Harvey...
............Not as expensive as you may think, but I'll let him tell ya how much...I get a discount for being a nice guy n all...
Gotta get that vp-44 buzz out of the cab...this should do it..

Re:New Fuel Isolator
Well I finally got around to installing the new fuel isolator on my wifes truck last night..WOW what a difference..it is so quiet now. Once I got the anti freeze and water mixture in the gauge side of the system and the isolator put back together...it was all down hill.
Yea down hill under the truck to run a bypass line past the carter pusher pump that was acting up. Now the pressure is solid @ 16lbs at idle and no lower than 10 @ WOT. The fuel lines have been replaced with a -6n system from the solid line just behind the firewall to the lift pump, then filter and finally to the VP44..
What started the evening of wrenching was a fuel pressure gauge started sounding like a 2 stroke motorcycle engine...
This fuel system now sounds so nice and quiet...

Re:New Fuel Isolator
Just an FYI on this new isolator...
Today is the 8th day and it has performed flawless. The needle is solid @ an idle and moves very smooth when the power is applied and when the power is release...needle moves back just as smooth.
As soon as I get some pictures I will post them so that you can see where I mounted it..

Re:New Fuel Isolator
OK, I'me going to ask a real stupid question. What is the perpose of the isolator? I get the impresion that the fuel presure guage is loud in the cab. Is that the case? and this is to quiet it down? My truck is bone stock till its paid for then I hope the baudget(wife) will alow me to start playing a little. I have no gages and never would have thought that a fuel presure gauge would make any noise. Thanks for helping out a newbie.
Re:New Fuel Isolator
Some have experienced noise transmitted into the cab by the aftermarket fuel lines. In the last month our 2k has had a major problem with this. I used a steel braided line connected to a schrader valve connected to a fitting right at the VP44.
I dont know if its a pulsation of the pump causing this noise or engine noise itself traveling the steel line, but I do know that something creates a noise inside the cab.
With this isolator it has a rubber diaphram that stops this noise from traveling into the cab. You have live fuel from the VP44 to the isolator and the between the isolator and the gauge there is anti freeze/water mixture.
Anyway this seems to have cured the noise...

Re:New Fuel Isolator
a waay of keeping harmful and somtimes hot and flammable fluids out of the cab. Instead you send a mix of water and coolant to your gaugges. Fingers are fatter than normal tonight. The diaphram is under the hood and sends the fuel/oil psi into the coolant/water mix and on to the gauges. Some just use a transducer to send an electrical signal into the cab(less reliable in some opinions). I hope I got this right for yuh bk
Re:New Fuel Isolator
Thanks. It makes sense to not have fuel in the cab. I always thought all gages used transducers and where electrical in the cab. I guese you learn something new every day.
Re:New Fuel Isolator
Some people just like mechanical gauges.
What it really comes down too is the quality of the gauge.
A good HQ electronic gauge and sender is just as good as a mechanical gauge of the same quality.
