Eric at http://www.vulcanperformance.com/servlet/StoreFront just emailed me and they have the adapters for the Airtex and will probably have them on the website tomorrow. I called him and mine is on the way. Hopefully I will have better luck out of this one over the Carter.

I couldnt find these on the vulcan website - but not exactly sure what I'm looking for either.

I'd like to install this Airtex in my OEM position - I do have the vulcan big line kit - just minus the relocation kit.

Can anyone link me to the fittings / adapters I'd need to make this work? I believe I'm 3/8 on the tank side - and 1/2 on the IP side.

Havent picked the Airtex up yet.

I installed my Airtex pump in the stock location, so far it works great! I saw the adapter on the Vulcan website to use the big line relocation kit with the new pump but don't quite follow how it installs. They mention the outlet side of the pump using the adapter, but how is the inlet side taken care of? I just threw my old Carter in the dump with inlet banjo and female quick connect still attached... I really hope I don't need it for the relocation kit! Pictures of the adapter installed?? anyone??

When I talked to Eric he said that on the inlet side you just slide your hose over the barbed end of the pump and use a hose clamp. Now on the other end, he completely lost me. He started saying something about JIC this and ya ya that and I went into wife mode and didn't hear anything he was talking about. I finally told him just to send me what I need to get it hooked up and hopefully I will be on my way.

Let us know how it goes when you get your fitting Hamilton. I'm in the same boat. Did this pump (airtex) plug right into your OEM deutch plug?

Also - what are you guys running this pump seeing for pressures?

I've put just shy of 3K miles on my Airtex. It plugs right in to the stock location. I only had minor fitment issues with the steel fuel return line being in the way and the clearance between the intake fuel line and firewall. I just bent the return line very slightly, and zip tied the intake line to the return line to hold it off the firewall. No big deal at all. I see about 19-21 psi at idle with warm fuel. I cruise between 13-16 psi, and haven't pulled it below 10 even at WOT. The only thing I have noticed is that from idle psi the needle drops quickly to just under 15-16 with throttle, then stabilizes, I attribute that to the return valve in the IP being set to 16 psi...does that sound like a valid diagnosis?? So far i'm really happy with the pump...

I am going to get one of these I like this style pump much better. This is the style we use in the marine field and the automotive I think thay are very reliable design. I have been trying to find one to adapt over with out using a bypass system.

I got it today and installed it on the pump which I will keep for a spare when the Carter gives out, which probably won't be too long. Here are some pics

This is a rigged up spare ready to go. You will see that the fuel hose slips on and uses a hose clamp...this is the tank side (I put the small hose on to keep dirt out until I'm ready to install and for illustration purposes). The adapter sleeve just screws onto the pump and I did put a banjo washer between the pump and adapter just for the heck of it although the kit didn't come with one so it might not be necessary. Then all you have to do is take the fitting out of the stock Carter and screw it into the adapter.

I had to grind/sand the lip off here so that the fuel line could go all the way on. Be careful because it's brass and the grinder takes alot off real fast. I got smart and layed my belt sander upside down and did it perfect.

Hopefully this will get the job done right the first time and I won't become an expert on Airtex removal and installation on the side of the road.

These pics are in my gallery so maybe you can supersize them to see it better.

I like my new Airtech or Airtex ? (on frame in engine compartment), I feed it with my old Carter(at tank) 15 psi + all the time. I used 3/8" brass compression fittings & hose barbs w/double clamps, permatex to connect to the stock fuel lines, no leaks.
