Installed the Airtex lift pump ..........

My truck has 114,000 miles on it. Only problem I ever had was to replace
the lift pump twice. Monday the lift pump started jumping from 13 psi to 5 psi
and back again , so I knew it was on it's way out. Leaving on a camping trip
on Thursday , so I needed a replacement fast.Went to autozone for the
Airtex E7153 replacement pump for $161.00 Installed it yesterday. At idle
18psi , cruising 15 psi and WOT 11 psi. Pressure is rock steady. So far I am
very satisfied , but time will tell

IMHO they're junk. I went through 2..or 3, can't remember-been too long, on a camping trip to Florida. Luckily I had moved it to the framerail and it made the job easier...well as easy as possible on the side of the road. I finally slapped my old Carter back on and ran it for another 8mths before getting another Carter. Next time it'll be an Airdog!!!!

The Airtex mounts in the stock location on the side of the engine. I do know
that they have had various upgrades to the original pumps that came out in2008. Only time will tell if it turns out to be a good deal for me. I do know that I will update good or bad with this pump , so others can make an informed decision

I have had the airtex pump for 6 months now and have put between 6 and 7 thousand miles on it with a Edge Juice with Attitude(thats how I found out I needed a new pump, 0psi on the fuel pressure gauge when it was installed) and seems to do very well with keeping up with the edge, on setting 5, fuel setting on highest, never seen it drop bellow 10psi. Mine came with a year warrenty.

I also have the airtex on the framerail...several years now...20psi idle, 16 WOT...so far so good. I also have it running off a relay instead of through the ECM.

Just an update on my Airtex pump. Still holds 18 at idle and
11 psi at WOT. Rock steady on my mech. gauge. I am very
happy with it so far. I'll be the first to let people know if I
have any problems, but right now it's a cost effctive replacement
for those that don't want to pay for a full blown system upgrade.

Glad it is working. You only have 1/3 of what an AirDog costs.

Oops, you're on your 3rd lift pump - coulda had a AD.

Also have a new Airtex

I just installed an new Airtex as well - on engine. I'm waiting for a fuel gauge kit to be delivered (guess why I bought one of those ), so I do not yet know the performance. I'll keep everyone posted. A frame rail mount seems like a good idea. Is there a kit for that or do I need to cobble together the parts myself?

Where do you get 161.00???? I can buy them all over for 119.00. I can buy 4 airtex pumps for less than one airdog at 499.00. 4 x 119.00= 476.00. Now maybe you can understand what I said about the math.

I got $161 from the original post which didn't include labor for the install. Regardless, he's on his 3rd pump so the next 1 puts him over. It's your truck. Do what you want. Es macht nicht.

While the AD is not without issues, my self I would go with the Airtex. My original went 103 g and was getting weak so I replaced it with another Carter. I have 15 g on it and an Airtex for a backup. I expect the Carter to go another 85 g. I also believe all pumps should be driven through a relay and not the Cummins ecu.

The first Carter pump replacement I got for $129.00 at Cummins West. It
failed in two months ,so they gave me a replacement for no cost. The replacement lasted close to 3 years before it started acting up last month. So
right now I'm out $129.00 + $161.00= $290.00
