New to 2nd gen's could use some help
Alright so I am completely new to the 2nd gen trucks as I just sold my 3rd gen to get out from under a payment I have a '99 3500 single wheel (converted) with a stout auto tranny and I'm looking to put out respectable power (ballpark 400-450 range???) and be able to pull around 6K lbs on the weekends, I just have no clue whats working and whats not, to be honest I dont read up on them much. Any input would be great help. And thats not including the obvious gauges exhaust and intake.
Well, there are alot of options here..
Im shootin for 450 rwhp and currently have what is in my sig.
the next things Im planning on adding are DDP 3's a Phat Shaft 62/65/14 from II head studs and 3 piece exhaust mani.
Basically I think you could easily make it to 425-450 with a good box or programmer ( J/A, Adrenaline, Smary stacked with an Edge EZ or comp box) Fuel system ( Air Dog 150 or FASS 150) Injectors ( 110-150 hp I like DDP and Formula 1) and a turbo somewhere around the size 62/65/14.
Just my .02.

THat's the perfect ballpark for a Mach 4 injector from F1. Pick an electronics box you like and you'll be there.
For turbos, a 62mm-class charger should be able to handle all that.

Agree!
Mach 4's and a Smarty programer will put you just over 400 hp.
I use this combo for daily driving and work...hauling heavy, up to 10,000 lbs, and it works very well.
An adjustable box.. like a used Edge Comp, would give you the option of occasionally playing up to around 475 hp, if that interests you. But for good drivability, nothing beats the Smarty, IMO.
I would look at BD's Super B turbo... or a 62/65/12, like mentioned above.
You may also need some support to maintain good fuel pressure. I recommend the FASS HPFP.
