Question Need some tire advice please

Ok, it's definately time for new tires on my truck. I have the original LTX's with 70,000 miles on them and they are getting very thin. What i'd like is some feed back on what you guys are running? I'm looking at running a 285/75/16 or a 305/70/16 but i am open to other options. I have no lift on the truck and i am not going to be lifting it ever. I've seen alot about the Nitto Terra Grapplers and kinda like them. I wanna know what else is there that is a decent tire for the weight of our trucks? oh, if anyone has pics i'd like to see how they look on a truck. thanks
matt

Easy answer;
Go to Tire Rack and look at all the specs for tires. You can look at tires by brand and size. You will also see that P295R16 BFG AT's give you the most bang for the buck in weight capacity.
I wanted to drop my cruising RPM's from my stock P245's, and wanted a all-terrian tire. Perfect fit.
I'm on my second set now. I love them

I ran the Nitto Terra Grapplers for a bout 20 thousand miles give or take with out rotating them and the rears were done maybe I could have got a nother 5 thousand out of them but I wanted baja claws so I dumped them early
the good side of the nitto it did grip good in the rain didn't hummmmmm and didn't walk all over the road. and mine were only D rated maybe E's would last longer....

My vote goes for 295/75R16 BFG ATs

Or 285/75R16 Cooper S/Ts

Both excellent tires with good traction and street manners.

The Coopers usually last a long time too.

I would expect to get 70,000 out of them though.

Thanks for the replies. I'll look into the tire you guys mentioned. It sounds like they are all pretty decent. One last thing, I have 4.10's in my truck and i've read that going up in tire size will drop the RPM's down a bit for cruising and it will bring a little better hwy mileage, is it true that the Hwy milage will improve a little?

I have ran a couple sets of the Bridgestone Dueler Revo's. They were an excellent tire. Got 60k out of each set. Great traction, good life and low noise. Only place they arent great in is the gooey mud. Worth a look at least.
As far as larger tires and increased mpg. You will lower your rpms but you will get tires that are heavier, have increased rolling resistance and add height increasing your drag so you may gain some mpg but I think it will be fairly minimal due to those other factors. More or less a wash so to speak. I am sure some will disagree but that has been my experience in the past.

I am wonderng the same thing, do you lose mpg with bigger tires? and if so how much over the stock tires?

Thanks Bob
