need single stack setup pics

Allright guys. Been thinking about running a single 5 inch turnout on my truck for a while now. I have the stack in the shop. Its my buddies stack, but he says he will trade me even for my 5 inch, and 6 inch tips. So i just have to make up my mind. Im trying to figure out how to get across the framerail with the pipe. Im not gonna run it under the framerail, and i would like to keep it as clean as possible in the bed. I have the pipe, and stuff, and i also bought a 3 ft long piece of 4 inch flexpipe. Im just wanting to know how you guys got your pipe over to where the stack is. The 4 inch flexpipe doesent bend much. It barley makes maybe an 80 dedree bend if you bend the crap out of it, and its hard to work with. I think i can do it without much problem, i would just like some ideas to work with. Also, how loud in th cab is it with a single stack say on the interstate, and just normal driving. I dont want it to rumble in the cab all the time, but i want to be able to open the sliding rear glass, and hear that sucker talk. I like my exhaust how it is, but i also think a single stack would be bad on there, so thanks for any help.

Eric

I went single stack as well. I didnt use exhaust tubing/pipe though, real stuff.... SCH 10 Stainless, all tig welded I have a few photos in my photo gallery. I will try to shoot a few from underneath to show how I came around and up. I specifically tried to keep it as neat in the bed as possible.

I just bought 4" 90* elbows. Off the stack, you go to a 5"-$" adapter, into a 90 that goes over the frame, into another 90 that points down and slightly forward, then into a 45, into 1 1/2 - 2' of stainless flex, then to the pipe off the down pipe.
I kept the 3" pipe to where the cat was, then adapted to 4".

I wish I had a digicam to show some pics... it looks professional.

To help support the stack, just buy a chrome stack bracket for a 379 Peterbilt. You can bolt it to the front edge of the bed (use stainless bolts).

If the stack will be inside the bedrail, there is plenty of room to go between the frame and the bed, at least there is on my '96 standard cab. I think thewre is something like 8" of clearance between the bed floor and the frame. Run the pipe high enough to clear the frame, then angle it between the bed and the frame and run over to the bottom of the stack.

I'm planning dual stacks. Unlike those who have run a single pipe through the middle of the bed and split to two pipes over the bed floor over the stacks (sorry, but I think that looks like crap), I will run everything under the bed floor.

I would think that the second gens wouldn't be too different here. My stack was ran inbetween the frame rail and the bed. I drilled two holes in the rail on the inside of the bed and used a 5" clamp to secure the stack to the bed. I only have three inch turbo back so i bought two adapters 3-4 and 4-5. The local muff. shop welded it all up after i mounted it. I already had the stack lying around so total cost was around $100. It all looks very clean except when i forget to put on my stack bucket when it rains. As far as noise with the windows rolled up and the radio on I don't even now its there until i look in the rear view mirror and see the smoke puffs/trail when i shift. I have had it for almost two years now and i am still and still looks when going down the road.

Thanks guys! Id still like to see some under truck pics if anyone has them/can get them. I have some pipe that is just over 4 inch O.D. that i am using, so i think ill take a chop saw, and weld up some 90's out of two 45's, and be building what i need, because all i have to do is make a few 90's chop the old off, and bolt up the stack. Have pretty well everything i need. Have a steel 5 inch clamp, the pipe, 2 4 inch clamps, and the 3' of flexpipe, just need to make the 90's i guess. There will definatley be pictures if i do it.Thanks for the ideas guys.

Yeah, my single stack is LOUD! Not so much in the cab, but if you're outside the truck on the pass side and someone revs her up... WOW!!!
