Need lower egts, Ideas?

With the pulling season almost here, I am trying to find a way of getting lower egt's right now they get to 1500+ on a 65-100 mph run (of course on a private road) and I can only imagine how high they would get on either a full 1/4 mile run or a full pull. I have seen the EGT gauge maxed out (1600 gauge) so I know it gets high. So I know most of my options, wondering which would be the best choice in the long run.

I could either get some set of twins, I'd prefer not to pay a lot of money like most kits I see advertised, I do not have any tools to fab my own so that is also out of the question, I have my stock turbo still so that's an option or find a cheap 62mm turbo and go from there.

I could also add some water/meth, But I have heard some bad stories about people using that and I'd like to stay away from there.

I could also use smaller injectors and make less power, could be a good idea, but I'd like to stay near the power output I have, whatever it is and possible gain more power.

I could probably find the answer by doing some search, but currently studying for finals and would like some input on this topic. Thanks ahead of time for reading and commenting!

If you are looking at pulling, they may not allow you to run drugs or twins at all, or they may put you in a higher class than you want to be. Do you tow with the truck? Might look at a 66mm turbo. Spool up is slower, but EGT's are pretty good with it.

If I towed with the truck it would be very rare. Since I've had the truck I've had 2 trailers hooked up to it. Most of the use for the truck so far has been hauling things in the bed. You bring up a good point about twins and pulling, I'd have to go to the higher class with twins or drugs. I'd imagine the Silver Bullet is one of the best 66mm turbos? I guess that'd be my 4th option that I didn't list above, thanks for the reply.

I dont think this would put you in a higher or differant class... But what about an after market inter cooler? That way you can keep your fuel mods, keep your spool up time, and get much lower temps for much less money then twins and way safer then drugs.

Does an aftermarket intercooler make that much of a difference on a 2nd gen? I always thought they were more for the older or newer trucks, I could be wrong, but also a good suggestion, not sure if it would cool my egts the 200-300 degrees I'm looking for

Good point about which gen truck. The few articles ive read on intercoolers in diesel mags didnt really specify if one made the same amount of differance between 2nd and 3rd gens but I do know it said they saw 200-250* cooler then with the stock intercooler + a few extra hp from the cooler air too.
re post a question about 2nd gen intercoolers in here or do a search and see what ya find.
