Need a little help deciding about my fuel system

I got my brand new VP on the way, along with a airdog 100. I have a Vulcan big line filter to pump kit at the house also. Question is, should i put the airdog in and run that to the existing filter and use the big line kit from filter to pump, or should i just take off the factory filter? I remember a while back there being some debate on keeping factory filter or not. thanks for any advice.

Kip

I have basically the same.. tank to small inline filter/screen to fass 150 pump only. to oem filter housing. I use only the oem filter and a prescreen small inline filter prior to my pump. I'm using 3/8 ID hose.
if you have the pump/with filters you should be able to bypass the factory filter.
also you should have enough hose to replace between the vp and factory filter. when I switched hose size I put in a t-fitting between bp and factory filter for my fuel pressure pickup.

What's the harm in extra filtration? You've got plenty of pump to handle a tiny bit more restriction. I say keep the stocker!

Got my airdog in today, still waiting on the vp. My questions is, if i retain my factory filter also, can i run the airdog line directly into the factory filter housing? is it the same size as the connection at the vp? the kit really doesn't allow a configuration change and suggests to run directly to vp. thanks for any help.

Yes, you can tie in the OEM filter housing if you choose. The fittings are all the same. The only fitting you may not have is the tapped 90* for the filter housing outlet fuel line for the fuel pressure gauge line. But if you choose to not use the OEM filter housing then just make sure you dont throw it or give it away. If you ever decide to put it back then you'll find that they cost about $1000 to replace. Or you could just leave it on the engine so the water in fuel and fuel heater plugs have a home.
