Why does it do that?

It sounds like a GASSER at 2,800...

Do the 24v's do that?

I know the 3rd gens don't.

That is the sound of real 12 valve power for real men. Not the sound of feathers fluffing in the wind, that others less ,fortunate have to listen to.

LOL

I'll tell you what, the AFE really sucks air in at every RPM and sounds GREAT...

I can only imagine what the 12v sounds like outside the cab...

Must be something to do with cam timing and valve overlap. I have noticed that with all the 12V's that can go over 2800, they really start to rasp.. not that I know...

I took my silencer ring out, and when pulling a grade at like 60-70 mph on the I-state, I can't hear anything but whistle.

Try that with an SAII air system, it makes your ears ache.. With the S300 I have had to put a plug in the cowl when I have the TT on just so I can hear my stereo.

I just think thats the nature of the beast, but i'm sure theres exhaust setups that can clear that up. Maybe 4" Dp to 5" straight to 6" tip? lol, I dunno I don't really rev that high, maybe a few times I have.

Aftermarket charger, 5" exhaust, and a cam seem to clear it up on about every truck! My Garrett charger sounds really nice at WOT...very loud though!

I notice on the old 95 now that I went back to a factory charger...pretty sure it starts when the wastegate opens!

Never thought of that...Wastegate may be a culprit to that sound...

I always thought it was from the timing being set at a certain degree and never advancing as RPM's go up.
