My fuel Press...

Well I went and did some tinkering and finally completed my Fuel Pressure gauge setup. I tapped the banjo bolt and put a 1/8" Needle Valve into the bolt with a 4' section of 1/4" hydralic hose which is then coupled to a 16" (1/8" diameter) whip extension that plugs into the back of the gauge. With the valve open about a 1/4 turn from closed I have no needle jumping what-so-ever (anymore open and it would have a slight jump). I was surprised though because my pressure is 18 PSI @ idle and cruising down the road it is 22 PSI, and during a WOT run in 4th (with valet off BTW) I pulled it down to 10 PSI right as my springs kicked in and made it defuel . I hear alot of numbers like 20-25 PSI at idle and 35 PSI at 2000 RPM or so, do my numbers sound right to you guys? I'm mostly just curious but if it is too low what can I do on a budget to bring the pressure up? Thanks everyone in advance!

After reading this I am still confused, did you use both the stock stretched spring and the bic pen spring or just the pen spring?

Ratsun

let me clear it up for ya, What i did was take apart the overflow valve, i Put the thing on a vice and took a 14 mm socket to it and apart it came no problem (Im assuming u aint taken apart an OFV yet). inside the OFV you will find a little ball, a base that it sits on, and a stock spring. BE careful not to lose any of this, Ur gonna need it all to put the OFV back together. What i did after this was stretch the stock spring a couple of mm's, its not a tough spring to stretch, i took a caliper to it and made sure it was stretched out, and once it was, i set the spring aside and proceeded to Put the OFV back together again, Once i put back the ball, and the little base it goes on, i then put back the stock spring into the OFV body, Then i happened to find a click pen (i think it was a papermate with the little grip on it) and i took it apart and got the spring out of it, I then placed that pen spring inside of the stock OFV spring, and saw that it was a bit long, i then took some nail clippers and while it was still in there, carefully clipped it to the same legnth as the stock spring inside the OFV body. Once this was done, i simply put back the 14mm top to the OFV, and put it back on the injection pump,

Initial readings were 35 psi at hand tight at idle, But once i tightened it down a bit more, i got 40 psi (42 after a new Fuel filter). Pressure fluctuates on average from as low as 36 to as high as 44 on some occasions, and at WOT it drops about 15 psi, wheras crusing i have seen 48 once already...

A mod well worth it...

Thanks and hope this helps..

Rick
