my fuel mileage with smarty

Tonight I checked my mpg with smarty on fuelsaver mode.
149 miles driven
71 mph with cruise control set
aprox. 2200rpms(assuming factory tach is correct)
used aprox. 6.8 gallons
21.91mpg
28-30 degrees outside, driving interstate in wisconsin, rolling hills. all highway at 71mph, except for getting on freeway after fillup, and getting off freeway and going straight to fillup again.
On similar runs like this mpg without smarty were approx, 17.5-18mpg. I have never done a test in this depth before smarty, but very close conditions.
So I am seeing a very substantional gain in fuel mileage. 4-4.5mpg gain!! I am extremely happy with these results!
The reason I didnt have more miles is because, tommorrow I will be back to combo of city- highway driving. When I have to drive local streets, that sucker is going back on sw#9. I dont have the restraint to baby it locally. Bret

That is pretty awesome. I don't see myself getting a Smarty (just dosent seem to useful for me) But I'm sure we have a lot of members that will be thrilled to see you picked up 4+ MPG.

I made a trip to Kansas City a couple of weeks ago (4 hrs. each way) on my fresh HRVP pump and got right at 21 mpg. I wonder how much improvement in mileage I could get with a Smarty?

I would imagine its alittle different for each truck. Keep in mind this was with cruise on, boost never got higher than 18psi and egt was max of 712 pre-turbo. I would say boost average was around 10psi, and egts were averaging prolly around 550-600*. So I was really babying it. No load, just me. Bret

Excellent! How was power?

Did you refill at same pump? No offense intended, but if not, I'm not sure 148 miles is accurate test.... given different shut off points with different pumps.

I did a 450 mile test on SW #1 (Economy) and only got 1.1 increase. Guess I'll have to try Fuel Saver.

Nice..detailed report.

Power was very good, still a huge improvement over stock. No I did not fill up at the same pump, but I always fill it up till it starts to run over. I agree it is not 100% accurate, but close. I always fill my truck the same way, and there was nothing to indicate that these two fill-ups were much different than any of the other fill-ups I have done. The reason I didnt do more miles was, its just way to much fun on SW#9, which I am back on. Bret
