Muffler Fell Off...

My muffler has been slowly rusting away(where the pipe connects to it) And so finally the other day both ends rusted enough to have it fall off So I just took some of the old exhaust piping, and brought the exhaust out from under the truck, to towards the ground in front of the tires. The resonator is still there, but this is just a hack job for until I get new exhaust.

And yes, driving in Canada with road salt sucks Undercoating will probably come soon. And replacing the drive shaft gasket on the rear diff.

I'm glad I'm not the only person to have this happen to.

Yea I figured my EGT's would drop some, maybe not a lot, but some amount.

It sounds pretty good when I am just cruising along at low speed, sounds more like a big rig. When I'm cruising around 80km/h+ you can't notice too much. And of course when you haul on her, especially in town it's a lot more noisy

I was hoping that it wouldn't all off on the highway or anything, that might cause a bit of noise, and maybe some damage

If you push motor a lot you will have to watch the tires, you exhaust will throw a lot of heat out in front them.
I had a '99 with straight exhaust and I melted the plastic mudflaps in BACK of rear tires.

If I was you I would go to Napa, get 6ft of 3" tubing, a collar and go all the way to the back. It will be a little quieter in the cab also, since it will not resonate under the box.

GFB...I am found on BansheeHQ, ExRiders, and here that I can think of,lol. My brother is on other websites with "Dinner" as well

Valv...I'm thinking of putting a tip on it so it brings it out more towards the side, so it will kind of "go around" the tires. If I start noticing things then I will change it. Thanks for the heads up

hahayeah..my muffler fell of a few months ago also..and it was weird...it wasn't rusty at all and you would think that metal couldn't be cut with a simple metal cutting hack saw...

ratat98...the good ol' hack saw came in handy with me as well, lol. Did some more work tonight too. Going to try this out to see what it's like. I went around shopping for a little bit this afternoon, but couldn't find any 4" piping. SO i'm going to go out one of these days and get some

99globalwarmer...what are you waiting for?
