Motor cleaning

Does anybody have an issue washing there motor with under the hood chips

Don't be obnoxious about soaking the electricals and you'll be ok. Do not point the pressure washer straight at the computer.

as stated, just limit the water flow around connectors/exposed electrical components. most of it is weatherproof anyway (at least it would have been from the factory). hot dry air can change that though. splashes of water on the components are fine, just don't soak them continually.

you can even mix up some simple green or degreaser solution in a spray bottle. wet or mist the bay with water, then spray the solution liberally, scrub/agitate as needed, then rinse with a low pressure flow of water right from the garden hose . . .

OP,

Not sure if you have a air compressor, but I finaly got one and bought like a wand that had a tube that can be placed into a bottle of your favorite cleaning solution. I do that and with that wand I can pretty much pin point areas to clean with the degreaser. Then a simple garden hose as a rinse. I have had no issues with using the multi spray pattern hose end on shower and spraying all but the air filter. Hope this helps.

Thanx guys that's a big help I wAs worried about washing it vlcause my chip sends wires every where . Really appreciated

if you used good connectors or soldering, and then used di-electric grease/electrical tape/heat shrink etc you should be fine with the connections . . . if you didn't use any weatherproofing products or methods then be careful.

All of my plugs from my programer have gaskets I think I will just take it easy and use a hose

Spray the warm (not hot) engine with some engine shampoo or De-greaser (don't get any on the filter minder) let it set a while then rinse it off with the garden hose. Allow the engine to dry a while you should be fine..

I bag everything with grocery bags ie.. alternator , fuse box , important looking electrical connectors , warm engine and spray with dilouted simple green or castrol super clean try to keep it off anything alum like valve cover. I let it sit 5 min and rinse with garden hose.
