More Power!!!

Ok, I towed the new boat last weekend up to Jacksonville behind my buddy and his boat. he is driving a PSD 550 ford and I am in my 03 3500 CTD SO. I could barely keep up!! I need some upgrades, the truck had a hard time going over 75mph. I am reluctant to raised fuel pressure via a box but!! Help me out here with some suggestions.....

Re:More Power!!!

just hook the two in the bed in sequence and you will have no problem. really though, it too was reluctant to raise rail pressure but have had and edge ez for about 8 months now and no problems at all. temps are good and i have no problem pulling 5 to 8 k at 75. however mileage is bad so i usually just run 70 and never slow down for hills.

Re:More Power!!!

Don't you think it's time for Dodge to come out with a RAM 4500, 5500?

Re:More Power!!!

Must be a BIG boat. I pull a 14000# fiver and I have no problem at 75 or 80 or more. Hills will slow you down but boy that must be a big boat.

Re:More Power!!!

d-hlaw,

Did you get rid of you Conquest 28 with the twin Opti 225's? If you still have the setup, how are your Optis holding up?

Re:More Power!!!

I still have the Conquest 28 and the Optis are doing fine. I mostly pull my 2001 Cigarette 38 Top Gun to poker runs and stuff. My buddy has a 46 Skater and I can barely keep up with him on the highway. My boat and trailer probably come in at 13500 loaded. I really need to bump the power up....

Re:More Power!!!

d-hlaw,

I too was somewhat concerned about selling the "pressure" only set ups, to date weve sold over 200 of the 2003 EZ's and never had a problem from a single customer so I am OK with it. Call us if you want any tech info etc.

Off topic

d-hlaw - that whaler is THE deal. What I could do with that! Merc's are good engines. We forge the lower unit gears in Nebraska. we have had several Merc's on everything from rangers to john boats. never a prob.

Enjoy the water and I see that you do. Wonderful rigs you got there.

Re:More Power!!!

d-hlaw,

Something doesn't sound right with you having trouble pulling a 38 Cig. Back in the late 80's we use to, this was not on a regular bases, pull a 38 Scarab with a Bronco with the 5.0 and it did fine, power wise. If you got a friend with a CTD Ram, hitch it up to see how it compares to yours.

Re:More Power!!!

Let me clarify, I dont have a problem pulling the Cig I just want to go faster. Does anyone make a fueling box that affects duration yet?? I am concerned that raising the rail pressure will damage the pump.

Re:More Power!!!

From what I read from a post on the TDR, the Edge EZ doesn't actually increase the maximum pressure that is generated as that is regualted by the fuel pump. All it does is increase the rate at which it increases up to the standard maximum.

Of course if this is the case, I don't see how the maximum hp is really increased? ???
