more fuel = less egt's

Just wondering if my truck could use more fuel. I am running a 3rd gen turbo and I like it for the most part. It does get high egt's real fast. I was wondering if I got some bigger injectors. I was thinking this would keep my turbo spooling better. What do you guys think? I am running pensacola rv275 injectors and the xzt+. Let me know if you think I need more fuel. I was thinking maybe like some mach 1.6 injectors.

No more fuel. The 3rg gen turbo aren't really an upgrade. They flow a few more CFM than the HX35 but the restrictive exhaust housing causes high drive pressure and high EGT. Spend the money on turbo.

Yea i understand your point but people have had good luck with these turbo's. I just thought maybe some bigger injectors or a different controller might get it spooling faster.

More fuel means more heat.

Yea I understand that. I was just wondering if I had a little more fuel with my turbo if it would spool a little better. Just kind of wanted someone to look at my setup and tell me if I have enough fuel.

What are your intake temps like? The cooler the better

I am not sure on the intake air temp. I can get the egt's up over 1200 no problem.

You have too much fuel for that turbo. Heat comes from fuel. More fuel will not spool quicker in your case and may slow it down ,( spool). How about the smoke, is it heavy?

You have added fuel, now it is time to add air by improved fit of a turbo.

I don't know how I could have to much fuel. I only have rv275 injectors and xzt+. There are people running way more fuel with these turbo's. I understand your point about more air. I just don't think I have enough fuel.

Its not so much that the turbo is small (guys have done 500hp on them), but the turbine and turbine housing are very small, which will greatly affect your EGT's.

Have you ever checked for a boost leak? The injectors themselves might be causing issues. Pensacola isn't exactly synonymous with quality.

Yea I was thinking of going with some mach 1.6 or some diesel auto performance 100hp. They have pretty good reviews and they are not $600. Maybe I should just throw my stockers back in. I have checked for boost leaks many times and I am good.

The rv injectors are about right for best mileage, but you are not asking about that.

You are insistant on more fuel, so go do it!
Then you can tell us our experiences are right.
I have 100 hp-mach 2's and there is no way they would work with a single and the TST.

I run with the box off and still needed twins to tow.

I'm thinking about going smaller to better my MPG. And to clean up the summer time smoke.

J Lent was towing with a Super B Special and 200hp injectors all the time, something like 15k lbs loads. Not being able to with tow 100hp injectors and a single turbo, sounds like something else is up.

Thanks for all the replies to my thread. I was just kind of throwing this out for all of you to look at. I understand how more fuel can equal more heat but you also need fuel to spool your turbo. So maybe I will ditch my pensacola injectors or maybe I will ditch my turbo. I will have to decide what to do. I just see all these other guys running way more fuel and towing all this weight. Maybe being higher elevation is killing me or my 3:55 rear end. Anyway thanks for the help.

Let me clarify what I was trying to say!

First I upgraded from the hy9 to a hx35/12, then to a PDRhx40/16 then to a phatshaft then the twins.

Injectors went from rv275's to DD2's with the second and 3rd turbo's.
Then I went to Mach 2's (105hp) with the pfatshaft and twins.
Best mileage recorded was with the 3rd tubo and DD2's. i saw 22-23 highway at 72mph.
I was told the phatshaft was a towing able turbo. Bullhocky!!!
Oh, I forgot I had a comp box first the the TST powermax came to me about the time of the phatshaft. tst makes a very reliable box! I went thru 4 0r 5 compboxes.
With the Pdr40 i could tow if I kept rpm up above 2300 or so.
Phatshaft always layed down at most any rpm when I leveled the speed off.
I run daily with the TST off, turn it on to play. EGT's always cool--under 1000 preturbo, and ussually 650-700 at 60mph.
I can tow this way with EGT's under 1100.
Turn box on and run with both turbos spooled.
This truck clicked off 100+ mph with the PDR40 and DD2's in the quarter!!! Of course with heavy smoke. The Mach 2's run better with less smoke.
So, anyone running 200 hp injectors and NO BOX with a modified turbo is something I can believe, if the EGT's are watched and RPM kept up.
