McLEOD or South Bend
McLEOD or South Bend
It looks like i'm going to be ppulling the tranny, so i'm going to go ahead and take out my worn out clutch. I'm going to go to a dual disk. Most people arounf here are running a McLEOD DD if they are a street truck, and pull alittle at fairs and stuff. And everyone swears by them. But i know that south bend makes a Great clutch as well, (I have a single disk in my 05) Now i'm not going to be doing much pulling. But i need a clutch that is going to hold up to HARD ABUSE, And trying to get a 40in tire turning also put's more strain on them. So what do you think. Thanks Chris

Are you talking about Banshee? John Porterfields son? He has a VERY quick 3rd Gen 6spd with a Haisley Street DD. I don't see how any DD can shift quick at all, its twice the rotating mass of a normal cluch?
The Haisley Machine DD is a modified McLeod
If you read haisley's site they advise not pulling their street puller in a "road gear" or "2nd Hi range" because it will not hold up.
Every pull I make is in at least 2nd Hi or 5lo with my SBC.

pourindiesel- off topic here but what would be the reason for pulling in 4hi 2nd? how much more wheel speed do you get vs a high gear low range
another vote for SBC here, i love my 3850 DD. if you are gonna sled pull at all def get at least a 12 button, and with those big tires id recommend the heavier 3850 over the 3600 for more holding power when spinning those meats
