MAP Sensor mod.

I have been thinking about adding a resister from the power wire to the signal wire of the MAP sensor so I could make the truck have more low end fueling.it will make the ecm think it has about 20psi boost all the time. I need to know what voltage the signal wire is showing at about 20 psi I have heard about 2.4 but I ain't sure and has any one tried this before

I have also thought about this, but not sure how driveable it would be, and trying to park/manuever a 5ver. If I could flip a switch, and have th ecm see 20 psi boost, that would be cool.

i think it would just smoke alot at low boost . not really cause any drivablity issues . but it might wash the rings at start up when its cold . like GAMILLER31 said on a toggle switch would be the best way that way you could turn it off when shes cold and first starting it so you dont end up washing the rings and causing alot of damage . plus now you are changing the duty cycle of the injection pump making it work harder adding more stress on a already fragile pump since you already have the pump wire tapped. its worth a try i guess but might want to keep this in mind. for every action theres a reaction.

have a 98.5 runnin 0.9v, it did help it, wouldn't go 2.4 right off the bat though. The diaphrams in the sensors will break if ya bend em too far, costly experiment if ya don't watch it.

I don't guess I understand how you did yours I was just going to clip the wires and splice in a resister

Yea I just pulled out the sensor with the key on clamped a dvom on and took a small punch and bent the diaphram in the sensor untill it read close to what I was goin for(didn't realy know what that was at the time) but it did make a noticable difference. The resistor should work though I just jumped in head first like always, I think the ecm sends 5v (somebody correct me if I'm wrong) input to the map sensor.

Yeah it sends 5volts to the sensor but I think about 2.4 at 20 psi, someone correct me if I'm wrong, and how do I convert those volt numbers to Ohms, I would just like to stop the low end lag the 24 valve has and it won't be a very pricy mod if I can figure out what to buy

You wouldn't need a boost fooler because your map sensor would only see 1 boost number and that would be 20 because it would be taken out of the loop and wouldn't actually be measuring anything
