making power?

how do you go about making 700-800 hp in a 12v. what needs to be done to the engine. #2 only. can you make more than that in a street driven 12v?

Yikes!!! Do you mean ft/lbs?? I have only heard of a couple street driven 700 hp 12v's.......800+hp is really getting up there....I would expect that level of power to be competition only as the chargers will be getting very large (even twins) and laggy down low......we are talking about a motor that could possibly be making close to 2000 ftl/lbs. There are some pullers and drag CTD's that I'm sure easily make in excess of 800 hp but you won't hear too many of them brag about the mods to make that level of power possible.

700 on #2 is very doable, 800 starts getting real hard. fulmer has done 750 or so with a stock short block, factory cam and all. but he has a big pump, some monster shower head injectors. i belive he had a hx 40 on top and a big brother on the bottom for turbos. and a butt load of work figuring the combo out.

It can be done, I have driven a few. My question is why?

I understand it if you are going to race, but for a daily driver I think it is just too much power.

Matt Stuckey's Red 1996 Regular Cab 4x4 dyno'd 719/1480's at IRP and has dyno'd higher in better air. It is his daily driver but you cannot use the power on the street.

He has 13mm pump, pistons, twins, injectors.

I wonder that too. Who wants to race a 3/4 or larger truck? If you wanna race, get a smaller car w/o all that weight. Something w/o 4-inch factory spacers between the springs and axle.

i understand enjoying a fast vehicle but i can't understand trying to make my 3/4 a drag vehicle.

I don't have a problem racing a 4wd, I race mine. Not what I mean't. Most people if they went for a ride in a 700hp truck would flip out. Give them a 4wd launch and you will get some sort of sound out of them whether it be laughter or a scream, or maybe a "HOLY COW".

My point is, if you are not going to race it, then 500hp is more than most use.
