Question MagnaFlow stainless exhaust 31/2" downpipe

About decided to purchase the magnaflow stainless system for 399.00 incl 5"stainless tip. Is the 3 1/2" downpipe ok.?? I was planning on going 4" all the way back from turbo. Does the 3 1/2" downpipe matter and does anyone have any experience with this system?? Leave muffler on ofr go straight....im 47 years so being extra loud is not a necessity(ha ha)!! Just want to run cooler, more power/fuel milage and good sound!! Or should i get a 4" downpipe use flex pipe and put stack as underbed end?

The existing DP is fine, and may actually help spoolup.

Avoid flexpipe at all costs.

Hey suttonbeeman:

I just installed the Magnaflow XL system with the 3 1/2 inch downpipe. Actually, the downpipe starts at 3 1/2 at the turbo outlet, and tapers out to 4 inches. With the Magnaflow system, my EGT's dropped about 100* right across the rpm band. For my tastes, I'm 54, the muffler is a little loud under load, but I'm going to fix that with a Nelson 51" muffler that is sitting in the bed of the truck waiting for me to get to it. On my truck, there is a noticeable drone around 1900 to 2200 rpm's. Overall, I do like the Magnaflow. It does spool a bit faster, and the 5" tip really looks nice. They did ship my exhaust without the tip, but all it took was a phone call, and they fedexed it right out. I ordered mine from hottexhaust.com.

Hope that this helps.

I put the SS Magnaflow system on almost a year ago and it still looks like new and the fit and finnish was exellent. The flange at the turbo flares to 4" within a couple of inches from the turbo. Unless you go to a 4" turbo any exaust you buy will have to do this, also the SS system I got came with a lifetime warrenty so how can you go wrong. IMHO its one of the best buys out there from a long standing repuatable company. I wish mine only cost $399
