Mad Ecm

I spent several hours reviewing threads about Marco's ECM reprogram and can't tell if will work in my case. More times than not, one of the trailers is on the gooseneck ball. I want to keep EGT's down while loaded and minimize smoke. Not cool to pull out of a weigh station and fog the guys in the scale house! . Bulls in the stock trailer don't really like the smoke either. Smoke seems to be an issue with the MAD ECM regardless of throttle control. I'm considering an injector upgrade to 275's 1.6's or DD2's and either the ECM or a box. Any suggestions? TIA

See my profile, smoke is easier to control with the MAD/Catcher than without.

Smoke control is NOT a problem with an ECM and mild injectors.

Heck, even with 150hp sticks, I was mostly able to get the hang of driving smokelessly, and that was after only a week or so.

It tougher, imo to learn to drive without TIRE smoke

With my setup I can have no smoke, and still pull away very fast from a start, even pulling my trailer. If I want to go even faster, and with more smoke, then I can tromp on it, and fog out everything. .

The trick to driving daily with it is to roll into throttle easier from start then floor it(if racing), rather than flooring it initially. I don't need to floor mine very often at all now for day to day driving, as it has more than enough power with 1/4-1/3rd. pedal.

When into the go pedal hard once boost gets to 10psi or so, smoke virtually disappears, and so do you . Disable your wastegate with it, and your egt's will be fine. Check some of my past posts on MAD ECM/CATCHER for more information. You will enjoy the responsiveness from idle to 3200rpm

My truck would smoke quite a bit getting on it a little hard with the Catcher and the stock turbo. After I installed a PDR HX40/16, smoke is very minimal. A very small dark gray cloud, just a puff, then all clear. I am really happy with it, the throttle response is unbelieveable.

Pulling 14k with mine it vomits pretty good running the gears, BUT cleans up. I feel a better injector and a little more air would clean it up nice. I think an auto would be even cleaner becuase of less boost drop during shifts.

Running unloaded you have to make it smoke.

Sooting up equipment is one thing. Sooting up bald faced brindles is another.

If you are going injectors I would definitely choose the 1.6's out of your choices.

Good Point.

I think towing fairly heavy with a MAD ECM almost requires more air...bigger turbo, if controlling smoke if important.

Just my $.02.

I guess compared to some of you guys, me towing 10,000+lbs is a pretty light load . I am usually 18,500lbs-18,900lbs GCVW, and with my setup I cannot see smoke at all under boost conditions(just initial small puff), with stock HY-35 with disabled wastegate and 34-35psi max boost. What boost #'s are you seeing? Those Mach 1.6's are sweet

10-4 on sooting the brindles. Funny how more horns and noses seem to be on the drivers side.

Thanks for all the comments. Guess its time to call Bob Wagner and talk specifics.
