Mach 4's Hard Start

So I just upgraded from some RV275's to a set of Mach 4's, install went real easy with no problems at all. Except now it takes a few turnovers to get it running. It starts up fine if its only been off for less than an hour but anything longer than that and it tells me to go screw myself. Once it is running there are no problems at all, its just getting to that point

Ive checked all the lines and everything is tight with no fuel leaks anywhere. Any ideas?

Sorry I can't help, but I want to know how that combo works.... Do you still have the stock turbo? Doe you tow? How high are egts? Mileage up or down, etc?

Thanks, and good luck with the hard start issue.

Sounds like you got a leak somewhere. Might want to loosen the lines off and retighten. Could also be your OFV. When mine went out, it would only fire on 3 cylinders if it sat, took about 15-20 seconds of cranking to get it to start on a good day.

Ive loosened and retightened all of the fuel lines with no change at all. What is the OFV? I'm about to just put my 275's back in and see what happens but I'd rather not for obvious reasons. The awesome response when its running almost makes me want to deal with this issue.

I still have the stock turbo but am waiting on a 62/68/12 to arrive via ups, hopefully that will let me take full advantage of the mach 4's. I haven't noticed any difference in egt's but I still haven't towed with them either. The most I plan on towing is 14k so we will see what happens once I get this starting deal fixed up. Same thing on mileage, haven't had them in but for 36 hours so I can update on that in a week or so

If used, How many miles on em, Were they cleaned and pop tested before install?

Did you inspect the tips on the connecting tubes.... and the tube O-rings.
I'd first check that the connecting tubes are "snapped' in properly. Do all the fuel lines connect easily and thread down equally?

If the problem is the injectors themselves...it will be a first. Most likely something minor to do with your installation.

I can't see any of the O-rings, thats on tube I'm prying out when removing the injectors right? As far as "snapping in" goes the fuel line tips just sat against the tube in the head. I assumed that as long as everything threaded on just fine that they would be seated correctly.

All of the lines threaded easily by hand. Wouldn't the one (or more that are seated badly) leak a little fuel when running? Everything looks to be dry.

Wednesday I'll have time to get back in there and re-install everything. Just a pain when all I wanna do is go fast

Sounds ok. Been a while since I change injectors also, but I'm pretty sure I remember a 'snap' when reinstalling conecting tubes into injectors.
Yes, O-rings are on the connecting tubes. If you are not removing fuel lines completely....hard to tell. I like to remove fuel lines so I can inspect connecting tubes visually. Dodge recommends replacing their o-rings everytime, but I don't know anyone that does.... or has problems from not replacing them.

Just guessing at possible problem areas. If they run well under power and after intitial start.... really no ideas?

Oh ok I think your talking about installing the injectors right? Push down until they injectors snap in which would be the tube going into the injector. There was definitely a snap on each injector, I thought you were talkin about the fuel line going to the tube on the head.

I had no idea there was an O-ring on that connecting tube, hopefully my screwdriver didn't damage one as I was prying them out while removing the injectors. That defintely sounds like a likely place for my problem.

If the connector tubes leak inside the head into the fuel return system you'll never know its leaking.

Check and make sure you're not pushing compression into the fuel tank through a leaking injector copper washer, mine has done this to me on more than one occassion. My first indications were my fuel pressure was running higher than normal.

connector tube leak. 99% sure here.

you should get away with a stock turbo until we get hot summer heat.

but more important, have fun. life is good, but better when you have some passing power. lol

K I just got a new idea..
Frist, the o ring is about 1 inch below the threads of the connecter tube, so if you were prying with your screw driver up on the thread of the tube, the o ring is prob fine unless its bad from wear and tear.

Im wondering if you didnt damage a tip of one or more if the connecter tubes.
I did that on my first attempt as swappin sticks.
If the tip of the connecter tube, was sticking into the injecter tube when you put the new sticks in, its very possible that the bottom lip of the injector nicked/ pinched/ damaged the tip of the connecter tube.

I had that happen to one if my tubes and the truck ran like crap at idle. It was like it was only unning on 5 cyl. Once I got goin, it ran fine but hard starts and rough idle was happin till I got a new tube, (25$) later that day. New tube fixed it like it never happened.

If you dont completely pull off you fuel lines, atleast loosin all the hold down bolts to where you can pull out your connecter tubes completely to inspect.

HTH Let us know.
