lowering rev limiter

How can the rev be lowered? For AZ emissions, the test is that the floor it and let it bounce off the rev limit. I would like to lower the rev limit to 2500 or so. I dont do that to my truck and dont want some yahoo doing that to my truck either. I have a smarty and would br nice if they did an adjustable rev limiter in conjunction with the half power mode.

I'd call Bob directly and see if Marco can custom write a software...

Is the half power setting still not reducing enough emissions for you?

I think the concern is more the bouncing off the factory rev limiter than the not passing emissions...

Ah true.

As graphitecumnz has stated, try contacting Bob and see if he can throw anything together for you. Only way that I know of for adjusting Rev Limit on a 24 valve would be to flash the ECM with a new program.

Or the other option is to fab up something that you can install/remove from the APPS. Maybe something that sits between the throttle stop and the throttle lever. After the test, pop the cover and remove the stopper. The person doing the E-Test shouldn't notice the pedal not going all the way to the floor, they should think that is where it maxes out (unless they are more knowledgeable with Dodge Cummins)

As you say "bouncing off the rev limiter" is not a big deal. These trucks are governed to a maximum rpm that is well below what will hurt them.

Mine has hit the limiter a few times, there is nothing to worry about. Your going to go thru a lot of hassle for a simple test.

Truck is basically stock, so passing emissions should not be an issue. I thought about rigging the apps with a resistor but dont want to risk an engine light during the test. Being able to lower the rpm in steps would be cool, for liabilities just dont allow us to raise it. Mine already hits about 3400.

That's roughly all a stock truck should free rev to while in park/neutral...maybe also drive (not sure though).

One of the "sections" to our emissions tests up here is snap throttle from idle to Limiter and hold for however many seconds it asks. Kinda scary sitting there hearing your engine scream like that.

rev limiter will not hurt anything, my factory valve train has been to 5k with no problems and to the factory 3800 prolly 300+ times with the vp

You'd need a mighty big stop, as it won't take much fuel to hit the limiter with no load. Mine will do it at about 1/8th of full throttle.

It won't hurt your engine any to hit the limiter from time to time. These engines are so overbuilt and so detuned. Thats why guys can push 5k+ rpm and 1000+ hp on stock bottom ends.
