Low-End Power Loss

alright it has been a while since i posted on this site... but i have started to think that my block or pistons are starting to go out........Lately my truch has been running sluggish when not under boost and getting rather low MPG ratings but as soon as the turbo starts to spool it feels strong and powerfull.....Im wandering why the bottom end seems so weak or worn out... and im actually thinking of rebuilding it... The truck currently has 187,437 miles on it and i think it has seen plenty of abuse.

Are there any other signs besides the power drop? Exhuast smoke changes? I would be half tempted to look at the VP.

Get the codes pulled. Your VP might be on the way out. Have you checked for intercooler leaks?

Low power and more smoke.... Maybe pull the IAT sensor and clean/replace. My exhaust brake plays havoc with mine..Check the little things first.. Phil

If none of the above works....might pull your injectors and have them tested.
I'm not knocking those who buy Nozzels, but I don't think their longevity has been tested completely?
How many miles on them and were they fully tested before installed?

I would check codes first....My VP-44 acted just like you described as it was failing!
