if you have or get a mag hytek tranny pan they come with a drilled and tapped hole if not just drill and tap a whole in the side of the pan

I put mine in the hot line leaving the tranny.

I put my gauge up on the pillar as it's part of the X Monitor I have. Don't know why those guys would mount gauges in their pans or "hot" line. Have to be dang near impossible to see while driving.

oh do you mean the probe or the guage? if its the guage put it on the pillar just buy a mount for like 30 bucks

I hope your joking. We are mounting the sensor part of the guage in the hot line, then the display part of the guage is in the cab.

Actually we are not nice. The OP is asking for a suggestion and we are having fun with the replies... .

Hopak, if you mean where to place sending unit, I would suggest outlet line before enters heat exchanger next to engine, that would be the highest oil temp you can find.

If you want to know where to place gauge, the pillar mount is the most popular, otherwise any location around dash that is not in the way but still very visible.
Once you have the gauge installed it will be the most watched after speedometer.

I bought a mag hytech pan at the same time,so thats what i did
