Leveling kits

I'm in the market for a leveling kit. I see that some are 2" 2 1/2" 3" I like the 3 inch size best. My question to all you guys is why do some kits come with new lower link arms and are they necessary to maintain a good ride all advice is welcome thanks boys. I drive a stock 2001 ho with 6 spd and just starting my upgrades with a 4 inch mrbp exhaust going in on monday after my weekend camping and riding.

I put just the 2 inch leveling kit in my truck. Uses stock shocks and nothing else changed. Kit was 65 bucks shipped to my door. No noticeable change in ride or any other adverse effects. Very pleased.

With the 2" kit you didn't need new shocks? so far everyone says its a good idea to get new ones and a alignment as well.

I think an alignment is a good idea. I just put on some 2" spacers and am still using the stock shocks. The ride is just as good as before.
If you still have the factory track bar and not an adjustable one, your axle will be shifted to the driver's side slightly, but it's not really noticeable.

I have 3 inch coil spacers, but I also have a 300 lb RanchHand Bumper. My truck now sits higher in the front than the back. I am going to put an add a leaf in the back to get about an inch or so back up. I did not do anything as far as shocks or alignments, & have had no problems. But Remember, I had an additional 300 pounds hanging off the front, mashing the coils down to some degree. I also use KYB shocks( I think thats right) and they are very heavy duty. I don't think you need 3 inches to level at all. I had a past thread on the same stuff, search it out and check the responses I got. The 3 inch coils spacers i have are metal, tough, & were maybe 120 bucks.

Question 2wd leveling kit

I've been looking for a 2wd leveling kit as well. Trailmaster makes one, but so far all the ones i've found come with 2'' polyurethane spacers. Anyone know where i can get metal spacers to level a 2wd???

The place that made mine was from TN, I think around Knoxville. Go back & look thru my threads & you will find it. Someone else sent me to them. They can make what ever you want. Sure don't know why you need any kind of kit for a 2 wheel drive though.

I bought my 3" coil spacers and 1"-1 1/2" AALs from Top Gun Customs. Was only like $80 for the pair of spacers and something like $130 a piece for the AALs. I will be getting new shocks since I'm going higher then leveling it out. I know the leveling kits can and most time aredone on stock shocks... but it is a good idea to go a head and get some new ones.

I personally would not recommend over 2 in leveling kit unless your planning on upgrading or changing the upper lower control arms and adding new shocks. or buying a well put together lift kit. With going over 2 in it would also be a good idea to look at a new pitman arm and the list could go on. Yes some can get away with not doing the listed above and be fine and will swear there truck handles great..........

2 inch leveling kit works great with a pair of upgraded shocks like bilsteins..

just my 2 cents

i'm just bumping this up for a couple of question's,instead of starting a new thread.
i seen a pic of the leveling kit and it look's like it goes in the spring purch above the coil spring.sound right?
i was just wondering if there's alot of stuff to unbolt?it look's like once you unbolt the shock and sway bar end link, the axle should drop down.would this give enough room to pull the coil out and then install it with the new 2" spacer?
any help would be great, haven't bought a service manual yet for this beast.

I have a 2wd.
I have 2" leveling kit for the front.
I need new shocks.
Which ones are best for the 2" lift? (blisten HDs or blisten 5100)

yeah, i'm also wondering if anyone has found leveling kits for a 2wd. All i keep finding is from Daystar and i was hoping to get something made of metal, that or a set of stiffer coils. My problem is mainly just that my truck really sags a lot in the front end because of both the motor and bumper and i am wanting to level it out just a little bit. Not majorly, because i really like it sitting almost level when i tow, just enough to where my headlights aren't always pointing at the ground, no matter how i adjust them. As you can see in the pics. The height difference at the top of the fender front/rear is over 5 inches. My front sags really bad so when i have to change the oil i got to jack it up a little bit so my bucket will fit underneith, then i tried to rotate my tires before with our floor jack and jack stands and i was almost out of jack by the time the tires finally came off the ground and picking up the sag. That's why i'm leaning a little bit more towards stiffer coils.
