Kenworth/Peterbilt Shifter
Kenworth/Peterbilt Shifter
i was wondering if i could use a Kenworth/Peterbilt shifter **** in my '96 CTD.
i haven't personally driven one of these big-rigs but i've ridden in them and i like the way that the shifter feels and looks.
i was looking at the shifter **** and was wondering if i could use the splitter gear actuater for my pac brake switch?
could it be done? i just thought it would be sweet if it could.

what exactly did you mean when you said "takes some rigging with a nut and some all tread"?
do you have any pics of this setup?
thanks for the replys
does anyone know what the two treads are so that could get an adapter?

I have a Fuller shifter with two valves on mine. I am using the splitter valve for a 2-low control. The low range selector is going to control my engine brake. Because of the height of the **** I cut the top of the lever off and welded a 1/2" bolt into it. I also made my own short throw shift tower. Have been very pleased with the results.

"riggin" - take a piece of allthread and thread it into your "new" shift ****.
Then weld a nut that is the same size as the thread on your shifter onto the allthread and you will be able to screw your "new" shift **** onto your shifter OR
put a die on your shifter and make the threads the same size as the threads in your "new" shift ****.

Cool idea using a Kenworth/Peterbilt shifter **** in your '96 CTD! Using the splitter as a brake switch sounds like a good idea. It might need some work to fit, but you can ask someone who knows trucks well to help make it safe. If you can do it, your truck will be awesome!
I installed a eaton shifter **** on my g56 thats in my 95 4x4.. i have a bm short shifter also . The eaton is used to control the exhaust brake ..i saw how o fellow modified his on u tube so i went that route. At first i made a adapter to go from the metric to the half inch on the eaton . It was just to long for me . So i cut off the end of the shifter an welded on the half inch bolt that i cut the head off with a metabo . A pass on 7018 and paint . All good now . Works good .
