Cool Juice w/Attitude...... Now what?

Ok I finally got arround to purchasing guages. Ok, I know a Juice w/Attitude is a bit over kill for just guages but I wanted digital guages and something that would give me a moderate performance increase for fuel mileage.

Here is my dilema, I need to know what the best configuration of my Attitude module would be for alarms and such. Fuel pressure is the only one I know to set at a 5psi alarm (right now with a dirty filter it's holding at 14-15psi)

I have NOT tapped my VP44 because I only ever plan on using stages 1, 2 and 3.

So, now I need you guys to do what you do best.... Give me some feedback.

I have my egt alarm at 1350* and the trans temp alarm at 220* and the fuel set at 5 psi. I also have the boost set at 38 psi.

Ok, but why? I have NO other mods to the truck, what would tapping the pump do for me? And would I not be stressing my very old vp44 by doing so?

I haven't ran my trans temp sender yet, I do plan on it but seeing how I only tow occassionaly wasn't in a big hurry to.

Is the trans temp as important to a 5spd as to an automatic?

Thanks for the post

Boost elbow??

I installed the boost elbow like the instructions said....

The "elbow" that was on the truck already was just threads and a nipple. What did the included boost elbow do for me?

Not sure if it is as important for a manual. I think it would be nice to know how hot it was getting

No its not as important on a manual but likse said, would be nice to know.

I believe the boost elbow you got has a smaller line through it, this would make it harder for air to get through and oped the waste gate, which means you will see more boost.
But being that you didnt have gauges before with the stock elbow, no real sure way to tell if its doing anything at all.

If you wanna see moe boost, get an adjustible boost elbow.

Ive had one of these on my last turbo, and my current and I wouldnt want one without it.

That actually makes sense, the one I removed was basicaly a straight tube. I have never been that concerned over boost, but was amazed at how just driving around I had very little showing on the display.

I'll get to go play tommorrow so I'll see how it actually does when I hit the interstate.

C'mon, tap it. Tap It. TAP IT!!! You know you want to. Your VP should be fine. You'll need a new transmission, but your truck will transform into a rocketship that plants smiles squarely on owner's faces....

It is wise not to tap the pump at this point. Once you do tap it though the addiction begins. Trust me adding more power costs a little and you should be ready to replace parts. The VP would be the last of your worries, because it will go tap or not, it's just the luck of the draw with them.

Wurkenman is right. The tapping of the pump is the beginning of the addiction. It's funny, I start and drive my truck on "0" until it really warms up and it is a pig. That's what I drove with for the first 150,000 miles. Then I got the Juice and tapped the pump. Now the minimum is 3x3 for just getting off the line at a stoplight. The VP will work or die on its own, regardless of if it is tapped. You've got a 5-speed, so just go ahead, it won't hurt, just try it, c'mon we're all here to support you....

I would look into a southbend clutch before any worry on your VP. and the diesel bug is going to bite you. also regardless of what ever you are going to run. I would look into a reliable able lift pump. start reading some threads on the fuel system or lack of. there are plenty of options out there to improve your fueling pending again the diesel bug. good luck
