Jacobs Brake

Does anyone know of a way to reduce the time it takes for the exhaust brake to engage? I have a 01 Ram 3500 with a Jacobs exhaust brake. I bought this truck 2nd hand with 19000 miles, the brake was already installed.

If the brake is hooked up to the cummins ecm there will always be a 3 sec delay after the throttle peddle is released, unless you rewired it.

KXHonda is right... There is a 3 second delay... But I've gotten used to it.

There is a way to get instant jake. Use your cruise control. As soon as you hit the cancel button it will jake.

Or move the switch to the stick so your foot is not controlling the jake but using your hand on the switch.

That's how I over ride the 3 second rule in my truck...
