Isspro guage rattles after 20# of boost?

I have a problem with my Isspro guage, it rattles after 20# of boost? Does anyone else have the same problem, or is there a cure?

Mine does this sometimes too. I haven't been able to figure it out because it doesn't do it all the time. The gauge itself is not leaking at up to 30lbs of boost, so I just figured that it is some type of internal thing in the gauge itself and that I would live with it. It is not too loud, at least in my truck.

Mine did that too with the stock HY-35 turbo..like a buzzing sound, correct? would increase as the boost rose on acceleration..It stopped once I put the HX-35 with a 14cm housing on..I'm guessing it is turbulent air from the stocker, causing the guage tube to vibrate against something. The bigger housing left more room for airflow, solving the problem.

Thats my theory anyway, don't know if I'm right or wrong..you might try putting some kind of buffer padding between the guage air tube and whatever it rests against to see if it stops. Thats what I was going to try.

it's usually due to the opening of the intake valves. if you install a snubber in the line to the gauge it should solve the problem.

Yes, I agree with the snubber. Can use a "needle valve" slowly opened untill you get pressure readings. Test drive to make sure noise is gone, then tighten the packing nut so it won't vibrate out of adjustment. Good luck, Kevin

If you call Don at Isspro (can't find the #) he'll tell you to do the snubber trick to reduce the air flow, and if you did that already to no avail, he'll send you another one or fix yours. Mine does it as well, but do not have enough down time to send it to him.

I know this thread is old but I just installed my boost guage and it's doing the same exact thing. Its also an Isspro and buzzes when I get over about 13 psi of boost. The guage does not bounce or pulse just buzzes. Now will a needle valve help the buzzing or is that just so it doesnt pulse and what is a snubber? Thanks

Here's a gauge snubber http://www.deltrolfluid.com/catalog/page13b.htm
it's hard to find one smaller than 1/4'' so you need to search, cost less than $5.
A needle valve is about the same price and works just as well plus 1/8'' ones are easy to come by, they're commonly used on ice makers, most hardware stores have them.
