Intercooler cooler

I was thinking of making a device to spray my intercooler, aftercooler, whatever you call it with water too cool it down. Would water be enough to make a difference? I was thinking maybe use the winshield water pump and some mister nozzles or something. Its really really hot right now and this seems like a good idea.

Thanks

it would cool it but then you would have a big puddle of water under your truck. you could always just run water injection and cool it down.

I remember once, some one over on the TDR sprayed their intercooler with liquid nitrogen during some dyno runs. There was no increase in horse power.

Neat link rockjeep.I was not looking to gain any hp. Its just at 115 degrees everything is a little toasty. I am just trying to get the intake charge a little cooler.

Try the water/meth injection! Or build you a chiller-surely its not that hot down in the valley of the sun-not much better here in Safford either!

I'm working in the UK on a rotation schedule and this same discussion came up with some of the guys that run rallys over here. On most of their cars with turbos a water spray is used to cool the intercooler. Seems to help even in the cooler weather here in Scotland. I'll try to find out more of what they use and get back with the info. Of course its mostly gasers but they do run some diesels.
